Mp3tag 3.32 is a Windows release dated November 14, 2025—not the current version. It added a useful way to select files grouped by the active sort order, custom-list auto-completion, and improved Discogs credit imports. As of August 18, 2026, the latest Windows release is 3.35.1, so most people installing Mp3tag now should start with the current official build rather than seek out 3.32.
What changed in Mp3tag 3.32?
Mp3tag is a metadata editor for audio files, with tools for batch tag editing, filename changes, cover art, and online tag sources. Despite its name, it supports more than MP3: documented formats include FLAC, WAV, OGG, OPUS, MP4/M4A, AIFF, and Matroska-related formats. Available tags and mappings can differ by format. Using Select similar files
The commands are in Edit → Select similar files (Ctrl+G) and Edit → Select next similar files (Ctrl+Shift+G). The commands rely on the active sort criteria; they are not a content-based duplicate detector.

- Load the relevant files into Mp3tag.
- Sort the File List by the field that defines the group you want, such as Album.
- Select one representative track from that group.
- Choose Edit → Select similar files, or press
Ctrl+G. - Inspect the highlighted rows before applying a tag change, action, cover edit, or export.
- To move on, use Edit → Select next similar files, or press
Ctrl+Shift+G.
For example, sorting by Album before selecting a track lets you select the other files grouped with that album. If the selection is unexpected, do not save a batch edit: check the active sort, sort by the intended field, select the representative again, and repeat. Always verify the highlighted files before writing changes.
What custom-list auto-completion does
Custom lists supply values you have configured for a field. In 3.32, those values can help complete entries while editing in the File List and Extended Tags dialog; Genre is included. This is a consistency aid, not an online lookup or automatic identification feature. It suggests from your configured list rather than discovering what a recording is.
That makes it useful for repeat entries such as genres, composer names, languages, countries, or internal catalog categories. The suggestions are only as good as the list: remove misspellings, duplicates, and unwanted capitalization variants if they keep appearing. The release announcement describes the behavior; consult the Mp3tag documentation for current guidance on configuration rather than relying on menu paths that may have changed.

Discogs composer and remix credits
Version 3.32 improved the built-in Discogs source mappings. Supported roles such as Composed-By, Music-By, Songwriter, and Written-By can populate COMPOSER; the Remix role can populate MIXARTIST.

These are import mappings, not a guarantee that every release has complete credits. Results depend on the Discogs entry and the selected edition; a lookup can also match the wrong release. Check the release and review imported values before writing them across a collection. If a credit is absent or represented by an unsupported role, you may need to add or normalize it manually.
Smaller changes
The changelog also lists Web Sources Framework commands SayVar, Use, and UseFormat, a correction for clipped labels in the Tag Sources search dialog, and restoration of MP4 mean atoms with uncommon namespaces that had stopped appearing since 3.31b. These details are most relevant to people who build custom web sources or work with unusual MP4 metadata; they are not headline changes for routine tagging.

Compatibility, download, and current version
The official 3.32 changelog lists Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, and 7. Treat that as the release’s stated platform support, not a promise about every managed or later Windows configuration. The official download page is the appropriate place to get the current Windows build. Do not assume it provides a permanent archive of every old installer; if 3.32 is not offered there, its documentation does not verify that an installer is available from an official source. Avoid repackaged third-party download mirrors.
As of August 18, 2026, the changelog identifies Mp3tag 3.35.1, released July 1, 2026, as the current Windows release. Releases after 3.32 include further bug fixes and features, including cover-art adjustments, toolbar and interface changes, cloud-backed file improvements, and RF64 WAV support in 3.35. The changelog is the best place to check the exact version history.
Should you use 3.32?

Before any large batch operation, keep a backup or otherwise preserve the files you are editing. Mp3tag offers granular manual control, but that also means the user must check selections and imported mappings before saving.

Windows and Mac are different editions
The Windows edition is offered as freeware with donations invited by the developer; see the donations page. Mp3tag for Mac has a separate release history and commercial model. Its official download page describes a seven-day trial and support for macOS 10.14.6 or later, including native Apple Silicon support. Do not treat the Mac app as a port of Windows version 3.32.

Does Select similar files find duplicate songs?
No. It selects files according to the active sort criteria; it does not compare audio content to identify duplicates.
Does Mp3tag 3.32 work on Mac?
No. Version 3.32 is a Windows release. Mp3tag for Mac is a separate application with its own version history.
