The first reported behind-the-scenes glimpse of Tati Gabrielle as Jade appeared in a batch of set photos shared by Mortal Kombat II producer Todd Garner. GameFragger reported the reveal on January 11, 2024, describing Jade’s image alongside other photos featuring Kitana’s fan and Shao Kahn’s hammer.
What Todd Garner’s set-photo reveal showed
GameFragger’s January 11, 2024 report described the image as the first behind-the-scenes glimpse of Gabrielle as Jade. It said the wider photo batch also included the film’s title logo, Kitana’s fan and Shao Kahn’s hammer. The report linked to Garner’s social posts dated January 8, 9 and 11.
The report establishes that a glimpse was shared, but does not support further detail about Jade’s costume or appearance. The original social posts and images were not independently inspected for this account.

In a May 15, 2026 interview with TheWrap, Gabrielle said she played Jade growing up and that Jade was the character who looked like her. She also described martial-arts preparation for the role, including work with a bo staff and learning a Chinese style. “I trained my whole life for this, particularly with the Bo staff. Though, I did have to learn a Chinese style for this, where previously I was familiar with Japanese, so that was quite the learning curve,” she said.
