In a story published by PEOPLE on October 31, 2025, Wright described how the idea became a homemade outfit and a noisy trick-or-treating trip in Surrey, England.
How Arlo chose his Halloween costume
Arlo’s idea followed an earlier example: he had seen a child in America dressed as a fart, and that helped settle his own choice. Wright told PEOPLE, “Arlo has never been one to follow the crowd.”
Wright said she struggled to find a suitable costume nearby. The options she encountered were either too expensive or would not arrive in time, so she decided to make one herself.
What Wright made the costume from
As Wright described it to PEOPLE, the outfit combined green and yellow tulle with clothes they already had. She covered an old beanie with scrunched tulle and attached more tulle to an old black long-sleeve top using hot glue.

She also added a remote-controlled fart sound-effects machine. Wright hid its speaker in Arlo’s pocket and kept the remote herself. The report describes the materials and broad approach, but does not give a complete pattern, construction measurements, or product details.
The trick-or-treating reactions
Wright said she and Arlo went trick-or-treating in Surrey, where she described their area as lively. She recalled setting off the sound effect as Arlo passed crowds and knocked on doors, and said people laughed and reacted to the costume. Those responses are Wright’s recollections in PEOPLE’s account, not a measured or independently counted audience response.

What was planned for the following Halloween
In the 2025 article, Wright said she was already thinking about a “comeback” for 2026 and mentioned that Arlo’s younger sister might later wear the stored costume. Those were plans at the time of publication; they do not establish whether either happened.
