Some MMA fighters have built screen careers alongside their combat-sports fame; others have taken a few memorable roles without leaving the cage. The available reliable credits support a closer look at five fighters—Gina Carano, Randy Couture, Ronda Rousey, Georges St-Pierre and Chuck Liddell—but not a definitive list of ten equally verified acting careers. Their screen work ranges from a starring role to franchise parts and brief television appearances.
How to read “turned to acting”
It does not always mean an athlete retired from fighting and became a full-time actor. A screen credit can be a leading part, a substantial supporting role, a guest appearance or a cameo as oneself. The distinction matters: a handful of credits is not the same as a sustained acting career, and the available sources do not establish that all five permanently stopped competing.
Fighters with notable screen work
Gina Carano: from MMA headliner to film lead
Carano moved into film with a prominent role in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, then appeared in larger franchise productions including Fast & Furious 6. UFC’s account also names In the Blood. Netflix Tudum’s May 16, 2026 profile describes her as stepping away from the sport and becoming known for Haywire and Fast & Furious 6. Randy Couture: a recurring franchise character
Couture is identified as an actor on his official site and is best known there for playing Toll Road in The Expendables franchise. The site’s featured-work list includes the 2010 original and sequels through Expend4bles (2023), as well as television credits such as Ballers and Hawaii Five-0. Ronda Rousey: supporting roles in major action franchises
UFC coverage names Rousey’s parts in The Expendables 3 (2014) and Furious 7 (2015), identifying her characters as Luna and Kara, respectively. These are supporting roles in high-profile ensemble action films, rather than evidence by themselves of a long-running acting career. UFC’s overview of fighters in Hollywood films.
Georges St-Pierre: a film role tied to his fighting image
UFC coverage identifies St-Pierre’s screen work in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That gives him a place among fighters who have appeared in major studio productions, though the cited coverage does not establish an extensive acting résumé. UFC Español also lists earlier film appearances; consult its roundup for the broader list rather than treating a single franchise credit as a full-time career change. Chuck Liddell: a mix of guest spots and self-appearances
UFC Español’s roundup describes Liddell appearances across film and television, including Entourage, Punk’d, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0 and a voice role on The Simpsons. The list mixes acting credits with entertainment appearances, and the roundup does not establish the scale of every part. It is best read as evidence of a range of screen work, not as proof that each credit was a substantial scripted role. See UFC Español’s roundup.
What these careers have in common—and what they do not
Action films offer a natural bridge for some fighters: their physical skills and public profiles can suit physically demanding roles. But the five examples are not interchangeable. Carano has a lead film role; Couture returned as a named character across several franchise entries; Rousey had supporting parts in major releases; and the cited evidence for St-Pierre and Liddell establishes screen appearances without showing the same degree of continuity.

The chronology also differs. Carano is described by Netflix Tudum as having stepped away from the sport, but the sources do not support turning every fighter’s screen work into a story of permanent retirement. A fighter can act while competing, during a break, or after leaving competition; a film credit alone does not settle which path applies.

The title’s familiar “10” framing suggests ten comparable, verified acting careers. The available reliable material supports five names to varying degrees, not ten entries with equally well-established MMA backgrounds, credits and role descriptions. Adding names without verifying those details—or counting self-appearances as equivalent to lead or recurring acting work—would overstate what is known. These five are a documented starting set, not a ranked list or an exhaustive roster.
