Mithya: The Darker Chapter brings back Juhi and Rhea for a six-episode continuation, but its expanding web of accusations, family conflict and revenge weakens the psychological rivalry that made season one compelling. Published reviews find some effective performances and emotional stakes; their central reservation is that the twists and cliffhangers do not add up to a coherent thriller.
Mithya: The Darker Chapter review
This spoiler-conscious assessment draws on the season’s official synopsis and published reviews, rather than claiming a firsthand viewing. ETimes/TNN summed up its criticism as a story that “tries to elevate the stakes but ultimately feels like a patchwork of shock moments rather than a cohesive thriller.” OTTPlay reviewer Arpita Sarkar similarly described the plotting as disjointed and gave the season 2.5/5.
The issue is structural: the season introduces a strong central provocation, then layers on competing family and revenge conflicts. OTTPlay says the many plots and twists can become incoherent and leave viewers lost; ETimes/TNN points to constant flashbacks and cliffhangers that feel forced. When suspense depends on one surprise after another, the characters’ underlying conflict can lose focus.
There are counterweights. OTTPlay praises Naveen Kasturia’s performance and finds the thread of a mother trying to save her child somewhat impressive. The returning rivalry between Juhi and Rhea also gives the continuation a familiar emotional center. But, as the published assessments suggest, performance and clear personal stakes cannot fully compensate when the story’s pieces fail to cohere.

What is Mithya season 2 about?
The story begins six months after the first season. Juhi Adhikari’s novel Dhund has succeeded when writer Amit Chaudhary accuses her of stealing his unpublished story. At the same time, her half-sister Rhea Rajguru is out of jail and still seeking her father’s love and control of the family estate. The plagiarism dispute gives way to overlapping family and revenge plots, with Juhi’s son Yash also threatened.
That setup puts two useful sources of tension in play: whether Juhi’s success rests on stolen work, and whether the sisters can escape the damage of their family conflict. The critical concern is not a lack of possible conflict, but the accumulation of subplots and twists that competes with those questions instead of sharpening them.

How does season 2 compare with season 1?
The continuation keeps the adversarial Juhi–Rhea relationship, while adding Amit and expanding the family material. That broadens the story’s scope, but also divides attention. For viewers who came for a concentrated psychological contest, the reported shift toward shock moments, flashbacks and cliffhangers may feel less satisfying than a focused exploration of the sisters’ rivalry.
The child-in-danger thread supplies a more immediate emotional stake, and OTTPlay identifies it as one of the season’s more effective elements. The trade-off is that emotional urgency and narrative coherence are not the same: a threat can raise the stakes without making the surrounding plots feel better connected.

Is Mithya season 2 worth watching?
It is a qualified watch for viewers who want to continue Juhi and Rhea’s story, are invested in the returning characters, or value performances and family stakes even when the plotting is uneven. It is a harder recommendation for anyone looking primarily for tightly controlled psychological suspense. The available reviews point to a season whose ambition to intensify the drama outpaces its ability to unify it.
