Miranda Derrick criticized Netflix’s three-part Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult after its May 29, 2024 release, calling it one-sided and disputing its portrayal of her as someone being harmed. She also described part of the conflict with her family as a disagreement over access to the sisters’ shared Wilking Sisters social-media account. Those are Derrick’s accounts; the series presents concerns from her family and allegations from former members, while Robert Shinn and 7M have denied allegations. The reports cited here do not establish contested claims as findings.
What Miranda Derrick said about the documentary
Derrick responded on June 4, 2024, after Netflix released the series. She challenged the documentary’s framing of her and said she did not consider herself a victim. “I believe that this documentary is a one-sided story,” she said, according to Us Weekly and Vanity Fair.

Her statement is a response to the documentary’s portrayal, not a resolution of the claims it contains. The series features accounts from family members and former members connected to 7M Films and Shekinah Church. Those accounts should be understood as allegations and personal perspectives unless independently established; Shinn and 7M have denied allegations.
Why the Wilking Sisters account became part of the dispute
Derrick framed part of the rift with her family as a disagreement over the sisters’ joint social-media identity. She said she wanted to continue using the shared Wilking Sisters account and, as Forbes reported, said her sister had removed her access. This is Derrick’s account of the dispute; the cited reporting does not settle the question of access or establish a single explanation for the family divide.

Melanie Wilking and other family members shared their concerns in the Netflix series. In a June 2024 interview, Derrick said the documentary had widened the divide between them. The Los Angeles Times also reported that Derrick attended Wilking’s wedding shortly before the series was released. These details show a complicated family relationship; they do not make either side’s account definitive.

- Factory sealed DVD
A documentary can present testimony and competing perspectives, but its inclusion of an allegation does not by itself verify that allegation. The available contemporaneous reports establish that Derrick objected to the series’ framing and that participants offered sharply different accounts; they do not establish contested accusations as adjudicated facts.

In a later interview, Derrick said she and her husband felt their lives had been put in danger after the documentary’s release. Vanity Fair reported her statement alongside 7M’s denial. That account is Derrick’s description of how the release affected them, not an independently verified finding that their lives were endangered.
