Meta Horizon TV is a centralized entertainment hub for Quest headsets, not a single subscription that replaces Disney+, Hulu, ESPN or other streaming services. Announced at Meta Connect 2025, it is intended to bring movies, television, live sports, music and immersive experiences into one discovery and viewing interface. You should still expect separate provider accounts, regional restrictions and app-specific playback.
What Meta Horizon TV actually is
Meta describes Horizon TV as a front door for entertainment on Quest. Instead of opening separate apps whenever you want a film, show, sports event or music stream, the hub is designed to surface different types of content in one place. Meta’s announcement covers movies, television, live sports, music and immersive media. Meta’s Connect 2025 announcement also identifies Disney+, Hulu and ESPN content as coming to the Quest ecosystem.
That does not make Horizon TV a Netflix-style catalog owned by Meta. It is better understood as an aggregation and discovery layer around partner services, native Quest apps and selected immersive releases. The announcement does not say that Quest ownership includes the underlying paid catalogs.
Which services and content are involved?
The strongest official confirmation covers Disney+, Hulu and ESPN. Secondary descriptions of the Connect presentation also mention Prime Video, Peacock and Twitch. Their exact integration, app status and country availability can differ, so a listing in Horizon TV should not be treated as proof that every title plays inside the hub itself.

The broader Prime Video, Peacock and Twitch list comes from secondary coverage, so treat it as reported rollout context rather than a guarantee of identical availability everywhere.
Do you get the subscriptions with Horizon TV?
No bundled subscription is identified in Meta’s announcement. Horizon TV appears to help you find and launch services you already use; it does not make Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, Prime Video or Peacock free with a Quest headset. Plan billing, advertising, parental controls and premium-format eligibility remain with each provider.
In practice, a viewer may need a Meta account, a separate account for each streaming service and, depending on the title, the provider’s supported app or browser. A recommendation can therefore reduce switching friction without unifying logins, billing or watchlists.

Quest requirements and how to check access
Meta specifies Horizon OS version 79 or later for the complete Horizon TV experience. That is the confirmed software requirement; the retrieved announcement does not provide a complete model-by-model or country-by-country compatibility table.

- Update the headset to the latest Horizon OS version offered to your device.
- Open the Meta Horizon Store and search for Horizon TV or the relevant streaming app.
- Install or open the service shown for your account and region.
- Sign in with the existing provider credentials when prompted.
- Check the title’s country rights and subscription tier before assuming it will play.
Store labels and menu placement can change. If Horizon TV is missing after an update, the cause may be staged rollout, hardware support, country availability or an app-specific requirement rather than a simple installation error.
For context, Meta’s Quest 3S announcement describes large-screen entertainment and browser access to apps including Prime Video, Twitch, YouTube and Netflix: Meta’s Quest 3S announcement. That does not by itself confirm that every one of those services has the same Horizon TV integration.

Picture, sound and virtual-screen improvements
Virtual cinema presentation
The appeal is a cinema-sized virtual screen that can be used privately and carried anywhere. It can be useful in a small home, while travelling or when the television is occupied. It is still a headset experience: comfort, battery life, lens clarity and network performance matter more than they do with a conventional television.
Dolby Atmos
Meta announced Dolby Atmos support for Horizon TV. Platform support does not mean every film, app, headset, headphone setup or subscription tier delivers Atmos. The service, title and output device must all support the format.

Dolby Vision
Dolby Vision was announced as planned for later in 2025. A 2026 reader should verify current implementation rather than treating that plan as proof that every Quest model and app now outputs Dolby Vision. Even where available, title encoding, provider tier, app path and regional catalog determine whether it is used.

Aspect ratios and letterboxing
Meta also described a future improvement that would size the viewing window to a program’s original aspect ratio, reducing unnecessary black bars. That means presenting the complete image in a better-matched window, not cropping a wide movie to fill the display. A film made in an especially wide format can still show unused space around the image, and browser, native-app and Horizon TV playback may not behave identically.

Meta announced partnerships with Universal Pictures, Nexus Studios and Blumhouse for selected movie experiences with Quest-specific effects. The named examples were M3GAN and The Black Phone. These should be read as enhanced presentations or companion experiences, not necessarily full-length films included at no charge.
Meta also promoted a limited-time 3D clip from Avatar: Fire and Ash through James Cameron’s Lightstorm Vision. Because it was explicitly temporary, its availability on any later date cannot be assumed. The announcements do not establish a permanent catalog size, a uniform purchase model or a large library of full-length 3D movies.

For a household movie night, a smart TV or streaming box remains simpler because several people can watch together with a remote. For private viewing, travel and spatial media, Quest offers something a television cannot: a large screen that follows you and can add immersive effects.
Horizon TV compared with Apple Vision Pro
Apple Vision Pro has made spatial video and 3D movie presentation a prominent part of its product story. Meta’s approach is less about one premium, vertically controlled media catalog and more about making a television-like entertainment entrance available across the Quest ecosystem. That may broaden access to virtual-screen viewing, but it does not establish feature parity with visionOS in optics, HDR, audio, comfort or content.
The practical comparison is therefore simple: choose Quest when portability, existing VR capability and a personal cinema matter; choose a conventional television for shared, effortless long sessions; consider Apple Vision Pro only if its spatial-computing ecosystem and hardware trade-offs fit your budget and use case.
Who should consider it?
- Quest owners who already pay for several supported services.
- Viewers who want a private cinema-sized screen in a small space or while travelling.
- People interested in selected immersive, 3D or VR-native productions.
- Users willing to manage separate accounts and check regional rights.
Who should be cautious?
- Anyone expecting one subscription to unlock every named service.
- Netflix-first viewers who require a confirmed native integrated app.
- People who dislike headset weight, eye fatigue or social isolation.
- Viewers demanding guaranteed television-grade HDR, Dolby Vision or 4K performance.
- Families seeking a shared screen or a large permanent 3D-movie catalog.
What to buy or prepare
Horizon TV does not require a special “Horizon TV bundle.” The relevant purchase is a compatible Quest headset, followed by comfort or battery accessories if long sessions suit you. Meta’s Quest 3S is positioned as an entry point, while Quest 3 is the higher-end consumer model; historical launch prices should not be treated as current 2026 prices. Accessories such as a better-fitting strap, battery pack, prescription inserts or replacement facial interface can matter greatly for movie comfort, but fit is personal. Bottom line
Meta Horizon TV could make Quest a more coherent everyday entertainment device by giving movies, television, sports, music and immersive media a common starting point. It is not, on the evidence available, a free all-in-one streaming subscription. Expect separate services, accounts, regional rights and uneven support for advanced formats. Its long-term value will depend less on the launch presentation than on reliable app integration and a steady supply of worthwhile immersive content.
