Tex Mex Motors follows a real restoration crew, not actors playing scripted characters. Car scouts Marcos “Scooter” Carrera and Rob “Rabbit” Pitts search for vintage vehicles in Mexico; in El Paso, a shop team works to restore and sell them. Pitts died in 2024 after a battle with stomach cancer. Here is who did what on the show, and what reliable sources report about his life and death.
How the Tex Mex Motors crew works
Netflix describes the series as a reality show about bringing cars from Mexico to El Paso for restoration. Its Media Center synopsis puts the premise this way: “Junkers turn into jewels when they’re in the hands of these pros, who bring cars from Mexico to El Paso for radical restorations.” The scouts find vehicles and negotiate for them; the El Paso crew takes on the repair and sales work.
In Netflix Tudum’s June 14, 2023 overview, the team’s initial business test was to net $250,000 over four months to see whether the El Paso operation could continue. That was the show’s stated target, not a reported result or a general measure of restoration-business performance.
Who is in the Tex Mex Motors cast?
Netflix Tudum identifies the featured crew by their on-screen jobs. These role descriptions explain how the operation is divided; they are not a ranking of the cast or a claim about credentials beyond the labels Netflix provides.
