When did Matlock Season 2 premiere?

When was the Season 2 finale?
The finale aired on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from approximately 9:01 to 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. It was a two-hour programming block containing two separate episodes:
- Episode 15, “Who Are You?”
- Episode 16, “Matty Matlock”
That means the finale was not one extra-long episode. It was a back-to-back broadcast of the final two episodes, bringing the season total to 16.
Why were there gaps in the schedule?
Matlock did not air every Thursday without interruption. After the first six episodes, the series returned on December 4 following a late-November gap. It then took a longer winter break after the December 11 holiday episode, returning with “Collateral” on February 26, 2026.

There was another gap between “The Cavalry Isn’t Coming” on April 2 and the final run beginning April 9. The final four episodes then aired on consecutive Thursdays, ending with the two-episode finale.

Across the middle episodes, the team handled cases involving wrongful death, resentencing, nuns, alleged harassment within a fire department, and an immigration-related injunction. The closing stretch focused on the effort to bring Senior to justice for the Wellbrexa scheme, providing the story reason for the show’s two-hour finale event.

In the United States, CBS was the broadcast home for Season 2. Episodes were also made available to stream live and on demand through Paramount+. For longtime Matlock fans
The Kathy Bates series is a new interpretation of the Matlock premise, not the original Andy Griffith program. Fans looking for a physical franchise item may find the original Matlock DVD set, which collects the 1986–1995 series. It should not be confused with a home-video release of the Kathy Bates reboot, and no currently confirmed official Season 2 DVD or Blu-ray release is established here.
