Its premise and Uttarakhand setting make for an easy, low-stakes watch, but reviewers were divided: some found it mildly entertaining, while others felt the humour and sibling dynamic fell flat. It is best approached as casual viewing, not a sharply written laugh-out-loud comedy.
What is Life Hill Gayi about?
Divyenndu plays Dev and Kusha Kapila plays Kalki, wealthy siblings who are set against each other by their grandfather’s inheritance challenge. To prove themselves, they must turn the dilapidated Good Morning Woods Villa into a successful hotel in Panchmoli, a fictional town in Uttarakhand. Vinay Pathak plays their father, and Kabir Bedi is their grandfather.
The series was released on 9 August 2024. Apple TV lists Hindi as the original audio and shows a 35-minute runtime for episode two; that listing does not establish that every episode runs for the same length. How well does the comedy work?
The central setup is immediately clear: the siblings have to confront practical problems while learning to cope with work and with each other. Scroll notes that each episode introduces a distinct problem, giving the show an episodic rhythm and room for lessons in humility and accommodation. That structure can suit viewers who want a light series to dip into rather than a tightly plotted comedy.

India Today reviewer Anindita Mukherjee rated it 2/5, and OTTplay reviewer Aishwarya Vasudevan also rated it 2/5. India Today found Divyenndu and Mukti Mohan among the stronger elements. OTTplay praised the scenic setting but criticized the humour, character development and chemistry between the siblings. Scroll offered a milder assessment, describing the series as mildly entertaining and drawing attention to its episodic lessons. These are critics’ judgments, not audience ratings.
Across those reviews, the main risk is consistency: viewers looking for strong comic writing or a convincing sibling relationship may find the characters and jokes underpowered. The hill setting and some performances offer counterweights, but they do not erase those reservations.
Who is likely to enjoy it?
- Consider it if you want a short, low-stakes Hindi family comedy, enjoy hill-station settings, or like episodic stories built around a new hotel problem each time.
- Choose something else if you want sustained big laughs, tightly paced writing or especially nuanced character development.
India Today’s Mukherjee put the appeal this way: “All in all, if you love stories based on hill stations, you might as well give ‘Life Hill Gayi’ a chance.”
