It is not a finished trailer or a released cut: director David Sandberg said it included plot points and temporary visual effects. As of October 8, 2026, Argent Pictures lists the film as “In Post-production” but gives no release date, and a recent court ruling did not set one.
What leaked from Kung Fury 2?
On May 12, 2025, World of Reel reported that an approximately 10-minute sizzle reel had appeared online. The report describes it as unfinished promotional footage—not a final trailer or a finished version of the movie. Sandberg said the reel was an internal promo never intended for public viewing and included plot points and temporary visual effects. World of Reel’s report reproduced his response.
Sandberg said he felt bad that viewers had seen story material and temporary effects, but hoped they could recognize the passion behind the film. He also said the movie had been “held hostage” for five years and that he would keep fighting to give it the chance it deserved. This is Sandberg’s statement as reproduced by World of Reel, rather than a quotation independently verified against a primary interview.
What is the movie about?
Argent Pictures calls the project Kung Fury: The Movie. Its synopsis places the story in 1985 Miami, where Kung Fury and his Thundercops face Adolf Hitler and a plan involving an “ultimate weapon.” David Sandberg is the director.

Argent’s project page lists Michael Fassbender, Alexandra Shipp, and David Hasselhoff in the cast. World of Reel’s leak coverage additionally identifies Arnold Schwarzenegger as playing a U.S. president and Fassbender as an FBI agent. Those role descriptions come from that report, not the producer’s synopsis. Argent Pictures’ project page is the source for the synopsis and its listed cast.
When will Kung Fury 2 be released?
No release date is stated on Argent Pictures’ project page, which currently labels the film “In Post-production.” World of Reel’s May 2025 report said post-production work had been completed in April 2024. Those are different statements from different dates and sources; neither establishes when audiences will be able to watch the film.

The reported legal update does not supply a release window either. In an unpublished opinion filed September 10, 2026, the California Court of Appeal affirmed a judgment enforcing a settlement in a financing dispute involving production of Kung Fury 2. The decision does not announce a distributor, a release arrangement, or a date. The opinion in Kung Fury 2 Europe UG v. Creasun Entertainment says the settlement required Creasun to pay $365,000 in producer fees. It is an unpublished decision, not a published precedential opinion.

World of Reel reported that the original Kung Fury short had close to 40 million YouTube views and that the feature cost $34 million. These are approximate or reported figures from its 2025 coverage; neither is established by Argent’s project page or the appellate opinion. The $365,000 producer-fee figure is different: it is the amount described in the court’s affirmed settlement-enforcement judgment.
