King Charles III shared a wide-ranging selection of music in The King’s Music Room, a programme made with Apple Music for Commonwealth Day 2025. Its named artists include Bob Marley, Grace Jones, Kylie Minogue and RAYE, with styles ranging from 1930s crooners to Afrobeats, disco and reggae.
What is The King’s Music Room?
The King’s Music Room is a recorded radio programme featuring King Charles III discussing music he enjoys. The Royal Family announced the collaboration with Apple Music on 6 March 2025. It was recorded in the King’s office at Buckingham Palace and released in connection with Commonwealth Day. The Royal Family’s announcement and Apple’s announcement describe the programme and its launch.
What songs are on King Charles’s playlist?
Official and contemporaneous accounts name Bob Marley, Grace Jones, Kylie Minogue and RAYE among the artists featured. The available announcements do not provide a complete track list, so these names should be understood as confirmed examples rather than every song in the programme. Associated Press’s report also names the artists.
What music does King Charles like?
The selection’s breadth is the surprise: Apple describes music spanning 10 decades, while the launch announcements point to a mix of 1930s crooners, Afrobeats, disco and reggae. The “10 decades” description comes from Apple’s programme listing and describes the range of music, not a measured statistic.

- When Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla are crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023 the service and pre-service music will be exclusively recorded and released by Decca Records the very same day
In the programme description, the King says, “Throughout my life music has meant a great deal to me.” He also reflects on music’s ability to lift spirits and bring people together in celebration. Apple Music’s listing for the programme carries those remarks.

The Royal Family scheduled the premiere for 6 a.m. GMT on 10 March 2025 on Apple Music 1, with further broadcasts on Monday and Tuesday.
