Kneecap cancelled all 15 of its planned October 2025 U.S. shows because, the group said, the tour’s start was too close to Mo Chara’s September 26 court hearing in London. The hearing came after the cancellation and ended with the charge dismissed on a procedural deadline, not with a ruling on the underlying allegation.
Why did Kneecap cancel its U.S. tour?
On August 25, 2025, Kneecap announced that it was cancelling all 15 U.S. dates planned for October. The group said the tour’s start was too close to the next London hearing for Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, the rapper who performs as Mo Chara. The Los Angeles Times reported the announcement and reproduced the band’s statement.
“Due to the close proximity of our next court hearing in London on September 26 — as the British government continues its witch-hunt — with the start of the U.S. tour, we will have to cancel all 15 U.S. tour dates in October.”
“Witch-hunt” was Kneecap’s political characterization of the case, not a court finding. The Los Angeles Times report said the group’s Canadian shows would continue as scheduled.

What was the charge about?
The case concerned an allegation that Mo Chara displayed a Hezbollah flag at a London concert in November 2024. That allegation was the basis of the charge; it should not be treated as an established finding.
What happened at Mo Chara’s September hearing?
On September 26, 2025, Woolwich Crown Court dismissed the charge. The Associated Press reported that prosecutors had missed the deadline to bring the charge by one day. Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring said, “These proceedings were instituted unlawfully and are null.”

In an Associated Press interview published in May 2026, Mo Chara said the band had not been denied a U.S. visa. He said that while changing U.S. promoters, the group would have needed to reapply for a working visa and did not apply while the court case was ongoing. He said he thought the band could return to America. Those are Mo Chara’s account and view; the interview does not confirm a visa outcome or future tour dates.
