Kendrick Lamar released the official “Not Like Us” music video on July 4, 2024, on his official artist YouTube channel. Lamar and Dave Free are credited as co-directors, and pgLang/project3 as the production company.
When and where did the video come out?
The official artist-channel listing, Kendrick Lamar – Not Like Us, is dated July 4, 2024. Its description identifies Lamar as the performer and carries the copyright notice “© 2024 Kendrick Lamar.”
Who directed and produced “Not Like Us”?
The official listing credits the video as “Directed by Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar.” It names pgLang / project3 as the production company and Lamar and Free as executive producers.
Additional credits
- Producers: Sam Canter, Jack Begert, Jamie Rabineau, Cornell Brown, Anthony Saleh, and Jared Heinke
- Associate producer and choreographer: Charm La’Donna
- Cinematographer: Xiaolong Liu
Why did its release draw attention?
The video arrived during the highly publicized Lamar–Drake dispute. In June 2024, shortly before the video’s release, Lamar performed the song at a Los Angeles-area concert that the Associated Press described as a community celebration; AP reported 17,000 attendees. That figure describes the concert crowd, not the video’s viewership. Associated Press coverage of the concert

In February 2025, the Associated Press noted that “Not Like Us” had won Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the Grammys, and that Lamar performed it during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
