On September 20, 2024, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos honored longtime ABC and Live executive Art Moore during Live with Kelly and Mark. Ripa interviewed Moore, the hosts gave him flowers and other gifts, and the audience stood to applaud him as he celebrated his retirement.

What happened during Art Moore’s farewell on Live?

The Friday, September 20, 2024 telecast looked back on Moore’s connection to the program, including his appearances in past episodes and Halloween broadcasts. Ripa interviewed him on air, and she and Consuelos presented him with flowers and other gifts. The studio audience gave Moore a standing ovation. WABC-TV’s report of the farewell also noted that colleagues had gathered earlier that week for a retirement party.

What was Moore’s role at ABC and Live?

At the time of the 2024 tribute, WABC-TV identified Moore as the station’s vice president of programming and Live’s executive in charge of production. The station reported that he had held those positions for 36 years and had been with ABC for 53 years. Those figures describe his career as reported in 2024, not his status after retirement. Moore’s work was principally behind the scenes: he oversaw programming and production, while also becoming a familiar on-camera presence through frequent appearances on Live. WABC-TV said he began working on the show in its second season.

What colleagues said about Moore

TVLine’s September 20, 2024 account of the farewell reported that Ripa called Moore “the biggest part of the family here at Live and at ABC.” The wording is TVLine’s report of her remarks, rather than a separately verified transcript. TVLine’s report

TVLine also quoted WABC-TV president and general manager Marilu Galvez: “To say that Art is a much-loved member of the WABC family is just barely scratching the surface of his impact on my leadership team, the station and the industry overall.” Debra OConnell, president of News Group and Networks at Disney Entertainment, was quoted as saying, “Art Moore is simply the best of the best.” Both statements were reported by TVLine.

Can you get a copy of the farewell episode?

The official Live with Kelly and Mark FAQ says the show does not give away or sell copies of its episodes. It does not specify whether Moore’s farewell segment is available through another official video outlet, so that FAQ does not establish where—or whether—the particular segment can be watched online.
