After a Maryland jury found The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member Karen Huger guilty of DUI and related offenses in December 2024, her attorney, Scott Bolden, said the defense was disappointed but respected the jury’s decision. The case followed a March 19, 2024, crash in Potomac, Maryland.

What was Karen Huger found guilty of?

A jury found Huger guilty in December 2024 of driving under the influence and several related offenses. The Los Angeles Times reported that the convictions also included negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, and failure to notify authorities of an address change.

What did her attorney say about the verdict?

In a statement attributed to Bolden, Huger’s attorney, the defense said: “Although we are disappointed in the jury’s verdict, we of course respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case.” Bravo’s coverage published the statement, which was also reported by the Los Angeles Times.

What happened in the case after the verdict?

The crash and trial

The case arose from a crash in Potomac, Maryland, on March 19, 2024. Trial coverage described police video and reported that Huger declined a breath test; those are details reported about the proceedings, not separate jury findings. The Washington Post’s trial coverage reported on the case.

Sentencing

On February 26, 2025, Huger was sentenced to two years in jail, with one year suspended, leaving one year to serve, according to The Washington Post. The paper reported that sentencing guidelines suggested probation with no jail time; that is its description of the guidelines, not an independent legal conclusion here.

Reported release

On September 2, 2025, the Los Angeles Times reported that Huger had been released early. That report is the latest custody-status update available in the cited coverage and does not establish her status or any later developments after that date.
