On February 7, 2025, Ye—the artist legally known as Ye and formerly known as Kanye West—posted an antisemitic tirade on X, formerly Twitter. The posts praised Adolf Hitler, included the statement quoted in the original headline, and described himself as a Nazi. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) publicly condemned the material.
This was not ambiguous provocation or a dispute over whether criticism had crossed a line. The posts included anti-Jewish claims alongside explicit praise for the leader of Nazi Germany. That combination is why Jewish advocacy organizations identified the remarks as antisemitic.
What happened on February 7, 2025
Ye used X to publish a prolonged series of posts containing antisemitic conspiratorial assertions, hostile claims about Jewish people, and praise for Hitler. Rather than reproduce the posting spree or amplify its slurs and assertions, the essential point is clear: he invoked Nazi ideology approvingly and explicitly called himself a Nazi.

The ADL and AJC were among the organizations that condemned the posts. Their responses placed the episode in its proper context: praise for Hitler and antisemitic conspiracy rhetoric are not merely offensive celebrity commentary. They echo ideas historically used to stigmatize, persecute, and incite violence against Jewish people.
Why the language matters
Adolf Hitler led Nazi Germany, whose government carried out the Holocaust: the systematic murder of six million Jews, alongside the persecution and murder of millions of other people. Nazi symbols and rhetoric are therefore not neutral historical references. In contemporary public life, they can normalize or spread antisemitic ideas and cause direct harm to communities targeted by that history.
Describing Ye’s February 2025 posts as antisemitic is based on their content, not on an inference about his private beliefs or health. The documented conduct included explicit anti-Jewish claims and Nazi praise. A responsible account can state that plainly without repeating hateful material at length.

A related, but separate, Yeezy storefront episode
The X posts should not be collapsed into every later event that unfolded over the same weekend. In a related development around Super Bowl LIX, a Yeezy.com promotion directed viewers to the company’s storefront. The site subsequently offered a shirt bearing a Nazi swastika.

The company said the merchant had not engaged in authentic commerce practices and had violated its terms. That was a separate commerce-platform action, occurring after the February 7 posting spree; Shopify’s published explanation should not be recast as a more specific hate-speech finding than it made.
What happened to Ye’s X account?
On February 10, Ye said he was signing off X. Contemporary reporting described the account as deactivated or removed. The available record does not establish a definitive, permanent enforcement outcome by X for this particular sequence, so it is more precise to say that Ye announced he was leaving the platform than to claim that X permanently banned him.

Background, without conflation
Ye’s 2025 posts were not his first public antisemitic remarks. Similar comments in 2022 had already brought substantial professional and public backlash. That history is relevant context because it shows the February 2025 episode did not arise in isolation. It does not, however, prove a motive, excuse the conduct, or support speculation about a diagnosis or mental-health condition.
His name also merits precision. A Los Angeles judge approved Kanye Omari West’s legal change of name to Ye in October 2021. “Ye (formerly Kanye West)” is therefore the clearest identification on first reference, while “Kanye West” remains useful in a headline because it is the name by which many readers still recognize him.
Later developments do not erase the record
Reporting in January 2026 said Ye issued a public apology for antisemitic acts. That later statement is a subsequent development, not a retraction of the documented February 2025 posts and not grounds to rewrite what occurred. Assessing its sincerity goes beyond what the public record of the posts and apology can establish.

Why this remains worth documenting
Celebrity speech travels far beyond an individual account. When a globally recognizable performer promotes antisemitic ideas or Nazi admiration, the attention can spread those ideas to audiences who would not otherwise encounter them, while making their targets feel less safe. Careful reporting has to balance two duties: record the conduct accurately and avoid turning hate speech into spectacle.
That is why the most useful account of this episode is also the most restrained one. The relevant facts are the date, the platform, the explicit Nazi praise and antisemitic claims, the condemnation from Jewish organizations, and the distinct subsequent storefront action. Repeating the rhetoric in full adds little understanding and risks giving it another audience.
