When was Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 confirmed?
The continuation was first announced immediately after Season 1’s Episode 12 finale on June 29, 2024. That initial announcement called it a “sequel” and did not specify whether it would be a television season, film, or another format.
The wording became more precise on August 5, 2024, when the official anime accounts identified the project as Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 and announced a 2025 release window. Crunchyroll also confirmed that it would stream the season.
That confirmation was later followed by a concrete release date. The official website announced a Japanese premiere of July 19, 2025, at 23:30 JST, along with a simultaneous worldwide stream on X.

Where can you watch Season 2?
For viewers in the United States, Crunchyroll listed the English-subtitle premiere at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time on July 19, 2025. The regular on-demand stream followed at 7:30 a.m. PT. North America was included among the listed streaming territories.
The official Kaiju No. 8 streaming page now labels Seasons 1 and 2 as “Streaming Now.” Availability can vary by country, so viewers outside North America should check the local Crunchyroll catalog rather than rely on the U.S. schedule.
How many episodes are in Season 2?
The official episode listing numbers Season 2 from Episode 13 through Episode 23. That gives the season 11 numbered episodes.
There is also a separate special called Hoshina’s Day Off. It streamed on July 5, 2025, before the Season 2 premiere. It should not be counted as Season 2 Episode 13.

What is Season 2 about?
Season 2 begins with the consequences of Kafka Hibino’s capture by the Defense Force. His secret identity as Kaiju No. 8 is no longer a private threat-management problem; it becomes an issue for the organization responsible for defending Japan.
The season also introduces Gen Narumi, captain of the First Division. Narumi becomes an important new figure in the Defense Force hierarchy, while Kaiju No. 9 continues to develop as the major threat driving the larger conflict.
That setup gives the second season a different emphasis from the first. Kafka still has to control his kaiju transformation and prove that he can be trusted, but the story now places him under direct institutional scrutiny while expanding the Defense Force’s strongest combat units.

Why some reports still say “confirmed for 2025”
Search results and older entertainment articles often stop at the August 2024 announcement. At that point, “Season 2 confirmed for 2025” was accurate, because the production had not yet received a specific premiere date.
It is no longer an accurate description of the series’ status. The relevant sequence is:
- June 29, 2024: A continuation was announced as a sequel after the Season 1 finale.
- August 5, 2024: The project was officially identified as Season 2, with a 2025 window.
- June 1, 2025: The July 19 premiere date and streaming information were announced.
- July 19, 2025: Season 2 premiered.
- December 20, 2025: A separate “Final Chapter” was announced.
Therefore, the useful answer to “Is Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 officially confirmed?” is yes—but the more current answer is that it has already aired and is listed as streaming now.

What comes after Season 2?
The franchise’s next major continuation is a project officially described as the “Final Chapter.” The December 20, 2025 announcement confirmed production, but did not provide a release date, format, cast, or staff details. It should not be confused with Season 2, which is complete and available to stream.
The official site has also announced Narumi’s Week at Work, a separate original short animation planned for fall 2026. Neither announcement changes the status of Season 2 or supplies a release date for the Final Chapter.
For the most reliable updates, use the official Kaiju No. 8 website and the Crunchyroll viewing guide, rather than undated posts that still describe the season as upcoming.
