The earlier 2018 regain is one example from a different period. In a later update, Complex reported that holiday eating and a collarbone break shortly before Christmas interrupted Jelly Roll’s exercise routine; the outlet said he later weighed 276.2 pounds, 12 pounds more than his previous milestone. That later account does not revise the 265-pound documentary-era figure; it describes another point in his ongoing story.
How did Jelly Roll lose weight?
The coverage describes personal choices and support, not a universal formula. In the documentary, Jelly Roll said, “I was eating myself to absolute death.” Men’s Health describes overeating as affecting his health, energy, and feelings of shame. Good Morning America reports that he spoke about closet-eating and feeling misunderstood. These are his reported experiences, not grounds for diagnosing him or prescribing a diet to someone else.

Good Morning America says the film shows workouts including boxing, push-ups, and running stairs in arenas. In an April 2025 interview, Jelly Roll described eating protein and vegetables and walking; iHeart reported that he then estimated he was approaching a 200-pound loss. That is his account of what he was doing at that time, not a tested regimen or a promise of results.
Biography.com reports that he hired chef and nutrition coach Ian Larios, that a medical team used blood panels to plan around cholesterol and blood sugar, and that Jelly Roll sought mental health therapy for overeating. The film and coverage name several kinds of support, but they do not establish that the same combination is appropriate for anyone else.

Dorment’s takeaway, quoted by Good Morning America, is that “everybody’s journey is different,” and that recognizing a path may not be straight and has “no one right way to do it” can help people get where they want to go.
