Jason Kelce retired from the NFL on March 4, 2024, after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Ranching was already a genuine interest: he had bought 10 crossbred cows in Missouri in 2022. But the reporting available at the time did not establish that he planned to make ranching his next career, and it does not verify that he now runs a ranch.
What is known about Kelce and cattle?
In a March 4, 2024, report, Agriculture.com / Successful Farming said Kelce purchased 10 crossbred cows in Missouri in 2022. The purchase preceded his NFL retirement; it was not announced as the start of a post-football ranching business.
Kelce described an interest in farming that had family roots. In comments to the Philadelphia Inquirer in January 2024, reproduced by Agriculture.com, he said: “I’ve always been interested in farming,” and noted relatives who had farmed, gardening with his father, and his interest in cattle. That establishes a personal interest, not a stated plan to become a full-time rancher.
Was he running a ranch when he retired?
The March 2024 article characterized Kelce’s cattle involvement as “hands-off,” citing the demands of his NFL career and other obligations. That wording is the reporter’s description, not Kelce’s own label. The article said it was unclear whether he would become more involved after retirement.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That distinction matters: owning cattle does not by itself show that someone operates a ranch as a business or occupation. The article documents the earlier purchase and his interest, but it does not establish the scale or day-to-day management of the Missouri operation.
What did Kelce do after leaving the NFL?
Kelce’s retirement was official on March 4, 2024. In the Eagles’ transcript of his retirement speech, he said he was retiring after 13 seasons with Philadelphia. The team’s retirement announcement records his playing career, including 193 regular-season games and 12 postseason starts.

In May 2024, ESPN announced a multi-year agreement with Kelce for Monday Night Countdown and additional NFL studio coverage. That confirms a post-playing media role; it does not settle whether he also remained involved with cattle or farming. His ESPN work and a private agricultural interest are not mutually exclusive.

It could be, but the available reporting does not confirm that it became his occupation. The documented facts are narrower: Kelce expressed an authentic interest in farming, bought 10 cows in 2022, and had been described as having a hands-off role by the time he retired. The March 2024 report left open whether his involvement would change after football.
