Jason and Kylie Kelce’s confrontation with a woman outside Steve & Cookie’s in Margate City, New Jersey, during Memorial Day weekend 2024 followed a declined request for a family photo. The woman later identified herself as Andree Goldberg and apologized. Although Kylie said she could smell alcohol on the woman’s breath, the reviewed reporting does not independently establish that Goldberg was intoxicated.
What happened outside Steve & Cookie’s?
The encounter took place on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend 2024, as Jason and Kylie Kelce arrived for a date night at Steve & Cookie’s By the Bay in Margate City. Local photographer HughE Dillon told CBS Philadelphia that a woman approached them and asked for a family photo. After they declined, an argument followed.
Video of the exchange showed Kylie speaking angrily to the woman while Jason stood nearby. Kylie said, “I can smell the alcohol on your breath. You’re embarrassing yourself.” That is her allegation in the video, not independent confirmation of the woman’s condition.
Who was the woman, and did she apologize?
The woman later identified herself as Andree Goldberg in a statement to The Philadelphia Inquirer. She said she regretted her words and should have respected the couple’s privacy. “As an adult and proud member of my community, I should have recognized and respected their right to privacy from the onset,” she said.

How did Margate City respond?
Mayor Michael Collins apologized to Jason and Kylie Kelce on behalf of the city and offered them a redo date-night dinner. The incident happened in Margate City; it was not in Sea Isle City, a different location that appeared in an earlier social-media caption.
What is—and isn’t—known about the “inebriated” description?
The word “inebriated” in the original headline should not be read as a verified finding. The reviewed coverage reports Kylie’s statement that she smelled alcohol, but does not cite a police assessment, test, or independent confirmation that Goldberg was intoxicated. The reporting establishes that a declined photo request preceded the argument; it does not establish Goldberg’s level of sobriety.
