Jane’s Addiction’s 2024 reunion tour ended after singer Perry Farrell shoved and punched guitarist Dave Navarro during a September 13 show in Boston. The band cancelled the remaining dates three days later. In December 2025, the members said they had resolved their differences and would pursue separate musical and creative endeavors, while remaining proud of the music they made together.
What happened at the Boston show?
On September 13, 2024, Jane’s Addiction was performing at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston when Farrell shoved and punched Navarro onstage. Crew members restrained Farrell and removed him, and the concert ended early. The Associated Press later reported that about 4,000 fans attended the show. The AP’s account describes the visible events; it does not establish the members’ private motivations or every detail of what happened backstage.
Why was the tour cancelled?
On September 16, Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins announced that they were discontinuing the current US tour. They cited what they described as a continuing pattern of behavior, concerns about Farrell’s health and safety as well as their own, and the absence of a solution they believed would allow performances to continue safely. Jane’s Addiction also announced that the remaining dates were cancelled and that the members would take time away as a group. The Guardian reported at the time that 12 further concerts had been scheduled across the United States and Canada.
The band’s 2024 notice said refunds for cancelled dates would be handled through the original point of purchase, or through the resale seller for tickets bought from a third party. That was guidance for the cancelled tour, not an announcement of new dates.

What explanation was given for the altercation?
The day after the concert, Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, said he was frustrated because he believed the stage volume was too loud and his voice was being drowned out. The Guardian also reported her account that he had a sore throat; Pitchfork reproduced her comments about tinnitus and tension. Her explanation, reported by Pitchfork, is an attributed account of what she said Farrell was experiencing, not an independently established cause of the fight.
What did the members say in 2025?
In December 2025, the band said its members had come together one last time to resolve their differences and would move forward with separate musical and creative endeavors. Its statement said: “Today we are here to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction will remain the work the four of us created together.” The members also said they remained proud of their shared music. Louder reproduced the statement.

Farrell apologised for his conduct, saying: “I’ve reflected on it and know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have. I apologise to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.” In the same period, the band said it regretted earlier inaccurate statements about Farrell’s mental health and acknowledged that it had unilaterally decided to stop the tour without telling him. Those are the members’ statements about their own words and decisions.
What happened with the lawsuits?
In July 2025, the Associated Press reported that Navarro, Avery and Perkins had sued Farrell, while Farrell and his wife had filed a separate lawsuit against the other three members. The parties made conflicting claims about responsibility for the Boston incident and the tour dispute; those claims are allegations, not court findings. The AP report does not establish whether the cases were dismissed or otherwise concluded after the December statements.

Are Jane’s Addiction still together?
The members’ December 2025 announcement supports describing the band as no longer continuing together: they said they would pursue separate projects and had come together one last time to resolve their differences. They also emphasized the legacy of the music they created as a group. The 2024 tour cancellation alone had been described as time away, rather than a definitive breakup.
