The Fire Inside is currently listed for U.S. streaming on Prime Video and several other subscription services. Amazon Video and other digital stores also list it for rental or purchase. Where to watch The Fire Inside in the U.S.
The Fire Inside is currently available to U.S. viewers through Prime Video and several other subscription services. Amazon Video and other digital stores also list the film for rental or purchase. Fastest option: check The Fire Inside on Prime Video, but do not assume that a Prime Video listing means the film is included with every Prime subscription. The listing may instead offer a rental, purchase, an MGM+ channel subscription, or an ad-supported option, depending on the account and date. [CIT-001]
Current U.S. viewing options
| Access type | Services currently listed | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription streaming | Prime Video, MGM+, MGM+ Amazon Channel, MGM Plus Roku Premium Channel, Philo, fuboTV, YouTube TV, and Prime Video with Ads | Availability may depend on the package, channel subscription, advertisements, location, and account. Confirm whether the film is included before starting playback. [CIT-001] |
| Rent or buy digitally | Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home | These are transactional options, so rental and purchase prices and rental windows should be checked at checkout. Apple’s U.S. title page should be treated as a rental or purchase listing unless its current interface explicitly shows subscription access. [CIT-001] [CIT-003] |
| Free streaming | No free streaming option was reported in the latest U.S. check. | Free availability is particularly volatile and should be rechecked before publication or whenever this guide is substantially updated. [CIT-001] |
| DVD or Blu-ray | No confirmed U.S. release was verified. | That means no confirmed date was found in the latest research—not that a physical release can never happen. [CIT-007] |
Availability note: The services above reflect a U.S. listing snapshot checked July 29, 2026. Streaming rights, channel access, digital prices, and free-viewing status can change independently. Readers outside the United States may see different results.

The story follows Shields from Flint, Michigan, through her pursuit of Olympic boxing success. But the film does not treat winning a medal as the end of the story. Its central conflict also examines the economic, emotional, and practical difficulties that can follow a historic amateur-sports achievement—particularly when an athlete returns home without the financial security or recognition that outsiders may expect. [CIT-002] [CIT-004]
The film is rated PG-13 for brief suggestive material, thematic elements, and some strong language. [CIT-004]
The true story of Claressa Shields
Claressa Shields is a real Olympic boxer from Flint, Michigan. At the 2012 London Olympics, she won boxing gold and became the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing. Team USA also identifies Shields as the first American boxer—male or female—to win gold at back-to-back Olympic Games. [CIT-005]

Those achievements are the historical foundation of The Fire Inside, but the movie is a narrative feature rather than a documentary. Its broad events are based on Shields’s life, while specific conversations, timing, family interactions, and other scenes may be dramatized, compressed, rearranged, or combined for storytelling. The film should therefore be understood as a dramatized account of Shields’s rise, not as a verbatim record of every event shown on screen. [CIT-002] [CIT-004]
Can you watch it with a regular Prime subscription?
Not necessarily. Current U.S. listings place The Fire Inside among Prime Video-related viewing options, but those options can represent different kinds of access. A film may be included with a particular subscription, offered through an MGM+ add-on, available with ads, or presented as a separate rental or purchase. The exact offer displayed on the title page is the one to rely on.

Is The Fire Inside on Netflix or available free?
The latest U.S. availability check did not report a free streaming option. It also identified Prime Video and the other services listed above rather than confirming Netflix access. Catalogs change, however, so a later search may produce a different result. If a service page labels the film as a rental, purchase, channel title, or ad-supported selection, it should not be described as free subscription streaming.
Is there a DVD or Blu-ray release?
No confirmed U.S. DVD or Blu-ray release date was found in the latest research. The verified options are digital and subscription-based. Viewers looking for a disc should check a reputable retailer or studio listing for a new announcement rather than relying on an unconfirmed physical-media database entry. [CIT-007]
What to read after watching the film
Readers who want broader context on women’s boxing can look for The Promise of Women’s Boxing: A Momentous New Era for the Sweet Science. The publisher identifies Claressa Shields as the author of the foreword, which makes the book especially relevant to viewers interested in the sport’s development and the athletes who have shaped it. It covers women’s boxing more broadly, though, and should be considered related reading—not an official The Fire Inside tie-in or a full biography of Shields. [CIT-006]
Bottom line
For U.S. viewers, The Fire Inside can currently be found on Prime Video and other subscription services, while Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home list digital rental or purchase access. The safest approach is to verify the exact access type and price on the service you use, because subscription, channel, ad-supported, rental, and purchase listings are not interchangeable.
