The Paramount Power Rangers reboot was never confirmed as a greenlit film. A December 2019 report described early negotiations with filmmaker Jonathan Entwistle and a time-travel pitch; a later report shifted the broader franchise plan to Hasbro’s eOne. Hasbro’s latest cited development disclosure is for a separate Disney+ series, not the Paramount movie proposal. The film’s present status remains unconfirmed.
What did the 2019 Paramount reboot report actually say?
On December 13, 2019, io9 reported that Paramount was in early negotiations with Jonathan Entwistle for a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film reboot. The report described a project in development discussions—not a greenlight, a start of production, or an announced release.
According to that report, the proposed story involved children transported to the 1990s, and Patrick Burleigh was working on a screenplay. Those were reported elements of a pitch, not a confirmed plot or final script. io9’s December 2019 report is the source for those details.
How did the plan change in 2020?
On October 20, 2020, io9 reported that Entwistle would oversee a broader Power Rangers film-and-television universe under Hasbro’s eOne, with eOne leading rather than Paramount. That update changed the reported development context, but it did not establish that the 2019 Paramount proposal had been formally cancelled. Nor did it confirm that the earlier time-travel pitch remained part of the newer plan.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The 2020 report was about a wider franchise strategy, not confirmation that the particular Paramount film had entered production. io9’s October 2020 report describes that shift.
What is the latest confirmed Power Rangers development?
A Playmates Toys Holdings Limited filing dated April 8, 2026, says Hasbro Entertainment has a new Power Rangers streaming series in development with Disney+ beyond 2026. This is a series disclosure; it does not confirm an active Paramount movie or resolve the status of the 2019 film pitch. The filing’s statement is in its Management Discussion and Analysis.

Hasbro’s October 6, 2026, franchise announcement includes Power Rangers among its brands and discusses licensing, entertainment and products, but does not announce the Paramount reboot. That omission is not proof of cancellation. Hasbro’s announcement provides portfolio context, not a status update on the film proposal.
Is the Paramount Power Rangers reboot still happening?
There is no confirmation in the cited material that Paramount’s 2019 film proposal is currently in active development, and no cited official announcement formally cancels it. The most accurate answer is that its status is unconfirmed. The Disney+ series disclosed in 2026 is a distinct project description and should not be treated as evidence that the Paramount film is proceeding.
