For eligible new U.S. subscribers, August 18, 2026 is a particularly good time to sign up for YouTube TV—if you want live TV soon. YouTube TV is advertising its main plan for $67.99 a month for three months, then $82.99 a month, and its Sports Plan for $54.99 a month for 12 months, then $64.99. Both offers are advertised as ending August 26, 2026. The Sports Plan is the stronger deal for sports-first viewers whose channels are covered; the main plan suits households that need a broader mix. Neither price makes YouTube TV the right choice if you will barely use it, or if your local lineup is missing channels you need.
The current YouTube TV offers
YouTube TV’s promotional pages reviewed on August 18, 2026 advertise the following new-user prices. The stated end date is August 26, 2026; promotions can change, so check the price and terms shown at checkout before paying.

The main-plan offer saves $45 over three months compared with its regular price. The Sports Plan’s advertised first-year saving is $120. Both are introductory offers, not permanent rates, and eligibility restrictions apply—particularly for new users. YouTube TV advertises cancellation at any time and no annual contract, but cancellation does not make charges already incurred refundable. What the first year costs
The promotional headline is not the same as the first-year average for the main plan:

- Main plan: 3 × $67.99 ($203.97) plus 9 × $82.99 ($746.91) = $950.88 for 12 months, or about $79.24 a month on average.
- Sports Plan: 12 × $54.99 = $659.88 for the promotional year, or $54.99 a month on average. The advertised price then rises to $64.99 a month.
These are calculations from the advertised plan prices, before taxes and any paid add-ons. Extras such as NFL Sunday Ticket, RedZone, 4K Plus and premium networks cost more. Check the itemized checkout total, not just the base-plan offer.
Main plan or Sports Plan?
The Sports Plan is not simply the full YouTube TV package at a discount. YouTube TV describes it as having 30-plus channels, compared with 100-plus for the main plan. The narrower plan can be a better-value choice when live sports are the priority, but a lower bill is no help if a must-have network is absent.

Channel availability, local affiliates and regional sports coverage can depend on your market. Enter your ZIP code and check the precise lineup before subscribing; search for the network you need rather than assuming that coverage of a league or team includes every relevant game. Why the timing may suit sports viewers
The NFL regular season begins in September, so signing up in August can make sense if you want a live-TV service ready for the season. YouTube TV also advertises useful household features, including unlimited cloud DVR, up to six household accounts and three simultaneous streams. Sports-focused features such as multiview may add convenience, but they do not change which games your plan can carry. The service streams over the internet, so you need a suitable connection and a supported device; check device compatibility before relying on it. Select 4K programming, offline recordings for eligible content and unlimited home streams require the separate 4K Plus add-on, and not all programs are available in 4K.
Does NFL Sunday Ticket make signing up worthwhile?
Only if you need what Sunday Ticket actually includes. It focuses on eligible out-of-market Sunday afternoon games; it is not a package for every NFL game. Local-market games, nationally televised games and digital-only games have different availability, and may require local channels or other services. RedZone is a separate add-on.

Sunday Ticket can be purchased as an add-on through YouTube TV, which requires an active YouTube TV plan at purchase, or through YouTube Primetime Channels. YouTube TV’s help page says there is no single-team or single-game purchase option. A 2026 community announcement listed a $378 season price for returning YouTube TV subscribers and $480 through Primetime Channels, but that is a dated pricing signal, not a guarantee of what a new customer will see. Confirm the current price, eligibility and refund terms at checkout. Season passes are nonrefundable under YouTube TV’s stated terms; month-to-month options have separate billing and cancellation conditions. - Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Local Sunday games: check whether YouTube TV carries the local broadcast affiliates in your ZIP code.
- Out-of-market Sunday afternoon games: Sunday Ticket may be relevant.
- National Sunday, Monday or Thursday games: these are not all part of Sunday Ticket; check the network or service showing each game.
- Digital-only games: do not assume Sunday Ticket includes them.
- RedZone: budget for it separately if you want it.
When to sign up, wait or choose something else
- Sign up now if you are eligible for the offer, want live TV before August 26, have confirmed the channels you need and expect to use the service regularly. If sports are your main reason, compare the Sports Plan lineup first.
- Wait or use the trial shown at checkout if you do not need live TV yet, are only following a short event, or want to test local channels and streaming on your devices before committing. YouTube TV advertises a free trial, but its length can vary by offer and eligibility; do not assume a universal number of days.
- Consider another option if your required local or regional sports channels are missing, your internet connection is unsuitable, or you want only on-demand entertainment rather than live channels.
Hulu + Live TV may suit households that value Hulu’s on-demand library, Disney+ and ESPN Select in a bundle. Its page advertises plans at $89.99 and $99.99 per month and a three-day trial; compare the current terms and lineup at Hulu’s official page. Fubo, Sling TV and DIRECTV STREAM may suit different channel, sports or budget needs, but check their current prices, fees and ZIP-code-specific lineups directly at Fubo, Sling and DIRECTV STREAM. Free ad-supported services such as Tubi can provide on-demand viewing but are not direct replacements for a live-TV package with local channels, sports and DVR.
Sign up without an unwelcome bill
- Open the official YouTube TV signup page and enter your ZIP code.
- Review local affiliates and the exact channels in your market. Compare the Sports Plan and main plan against a list of networks you actually watch.
- Read the checkout offer for its eligibility rules, promotional end date and trial length. Save a copy of the final price and terms.
- Review every add-on separately. Leave Sunday Ticket, RedZone, 4K Plus and premium networks unchecked unless you intend to pay for them.
- Note the date the introductory period ends and set a reminder before the next billing price applies.
- After signup, test the channels, recordings, streams and devices your household plans to use.
When the promotion ends, the main plan is advertised to move to $82.99 a month after three months; the Sports Plan moves to $64.99 after 12 months. Add-ons continue to bill separately. Switching plans while on a promotion may forfeit the promotional price, and add-ons may have billing cycles separate from the base membership. If billed through a mobile carrier or internet provider, plan availability and account rules may differ. Check the membership and plan-change rules before changing plans.
