Archived guide: The India vs South Africa final was played on Saturday, June 29, 2024. There is no current live stream of this completed match. The legitimate options now are official highlights, match coverage, scorecards, and any full replay still offered by a rights-holder.

- ICC match-video hub — extended highlights, match highlights, trophy footage, Kohli’s Player-of-the-Match feature, wickets and other clips.
- ICC final report — official result, match context and embedded video coverage.
- Sky Sports highlights — a post-match highlights package covering India’s seven-run victory.
- NOW catalogue entry — a 50-minute Sky Sports Cricket programme titled “ICC Men’s T20 WC Final: SA v IND.” Treat it as a short-form programme or highlights package unless playback confirms that it contains the complete match.
The publicly indexed ICC video page confirms several highlights formats, but it does not verify a complete, full-length match replay. Do not assume that a page titled with the final is a full replay: check the duration, description and actual playback before paying for access.

India: Star Sports and Disney+ Hotstar
The Indian live arrangement was Star Sports on television and Disney+ Hotstar online. Reports from the 2024 event described free mobile access on Hotstar, but the exact policy was device- and platform-specific. It should not be rewritten as “Hotstar is free” without those qualifications.

The original broadcast operation also included multiple language feeds, Hindi availability in selected overseas markets, and an Indian Sign Language/audio-description initiative associated with the Indian broadcast. Those accessibility and language options were part of the 2024 arrangement; they should not be assumed to remain available on a later replay.
United States and Canada: Willow
Willow TV was the official North American rights-holder, with Willow by Cricbuzz listed as a digital option. Some 2024 viewing guides described Fubo and Sling as ways to receive Willow. That distinction matters: a distributor’s current package is not the same thing as tournament rights ownership.

United Kingdom: Sky video, BBC audio and text
Sky Sports carried the live video on Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action, with Sky Go, NOW and the Sky Sports App as streaming routes. The BBC’s coverage centred on commentary, live text, audio and clips rather than the principal live video feed.
For current video, the Sky Sports highlights page is the clearest post-match option in the supplied sources. The NOW listing should be treated as a catalogue lead, not proof of a complete match replay.
South Africa: SuperSport and the special SABC 2 broadcast
SuperSport was the main rights-holder. For the final specifically, SABC announced an agreement with SuperSport to televise the match live on SABC 2. SABC said its broadcast began at 3:30 p.m. SAST, while SuperSport carried the game on SS Grandstand, SuperSport Cricket and SuperSport Variety 4.

This was a particularly useful free-to-air option for South African viewers, but it should be described accurately: SABC’s arrangement was a special live broadcast of the 2024 final, not evidence that SABC carried the entire T20 World Cup for free.

The ICC confirmed the Barbados, UK, South African and Indian timings in its final scheduling announcement. North American coverage listed the start as 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
Reserve-day context
The final had a reserve day on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Before the match, the event rules allowed an additional 190 minutes on each day, with 10 overs per side required for a completed match. This is now historical context: it is not a future scheduling possibility for a match that has already been completed.
What “free” meant in 2024
“Free” was used imprecisely in many live-streaming guides. These were different arrangements:
- Free-to-air: The special SABC 2 broadcast of the final in South Africa required no pay-TV subscription, although normal television reception conditions applied.
- Reported free mobile access: Contemporary Indian coverage reported mobile access through Disney+ Hotstar, subject to the service’s policy, device and account rules.
- Free ICC.tv territory: The ICC announced free live coverage in selected territories where it held the relevant digital rights. That did not apply worldwide and does not guarantee a 2026 replay.
- Free ad-supported stream: This is only free when the rights-holder explicitly offers it. A search result or unofficial video is not evidence of an authorized free stream.
- Free trial: A trial is a commercial promotion, often requiring payment details and subject to cancellation rules. Historical claims about Fubo, Sling, Willow or NOW trials should not be reused without checking the current offer.
- Unofficial “free” stream: Restreams, torrent files and piracy sites are not legitimate alternatives and may expose viewers to malware, scams or copyright violations.
There is no responsible way to say simply “watch the final for free” without naming the country, service, device and eligibility condition.

Can a VPN let you watch from anywhere?
A VPN may sometimes help a traveller connect to a service associated with their home country, but it is not a universal streaming solution and it does not create broadcasting rights.
Possible problems include:
- The platform detects and blocks VPN, proxy or “unblocker” traffic.
- The service requires a local account, payment method or phone number.
- Your app-store region prevents installation or updates.
- The browser and the app detect different locations.
- The original live rights existed, but the replay rights expired.
- The service permits the live event but not on-demand viewing in that location.
- Playback works on a computer but fails on a television or streaming device.
- Using a VPN to evade geographic restrictions may breach the service’s terms, even where VPN use itself is legal.
For example, the current Hotstar site displays warnings when it detects VPN, proxy or unblocker connections. That demonstrates why “use a VPN and it will work” is an overstatement. Check the broadcaster’s terms and local law, and use the service’s official travel guidance where available. Do not use a VPN recommendation as a route to unauthorized restreams.
Live stream, full replay, highlights or scorecard?
Before clicking a video, identify what it actually offers:
- Live stream
- Real-time coverage during the event. The 2024 final is no longer available live.
- Full replay
- The complete match, potentially several hours long. A current, publicly accessible full replay has not been verified from the ICC’s indexed video pages.
- Extended highlights
- A condensed version covering the principal innings, wickets and turning points.
- Match highlights
- A shorter recap, usually focused on the result and decisive moments.
- Clip

- No video appears: Confirm that you are opening a video page rather than a news report, scorecard or text-only listing.
- The page says unavailable: Check your country and whether the service still has on-demand rights. Live rights and replay rights can expire at different times.
- You are asked to subscribe: Check whether the listing is a full replay, highlights programme or simply an old event page before paying.
- Playback fails: Sign in, update the official app, try a supported browser, disable conflicting extensions and test another permitted device.
- A VPN warning appears: Disconnect the VPN or proxy and follow the platform’s location and travel rules. Do not assume repeated connection attempts will unlock the video.
- You only need the result: Use the ICC report or official scorecard.
- You want a spoiler-free recap: Open the ICC video hub directly and avoid search results, headlines and thumbnails that may reveal India’s victory.
Original live-event workflow for future cricket finals
The 2024 guide can also serve as a checklist for a future event, although its dates, platforms and prices must be replaced with current information:
- Confirm the viewer’s physical country because rights differ by territory.
- Use the official local rights-holder before considering any workaround.
- Check whether access requires a television package, standalone subscription, app or account.
- Confirm the event listing and local start time.
- Check supported phones, browsers, televisions and streaming devices.
