Online files use that label for different things: DepEd learning modules, user-uploaded play scripts, excerpts, and digital copies of the Filipino korido. For a dependable class performance, treat a PDF as either a learning resource, a source text, or an adaptation—and verify its provenance and permissions before copying or staging it.
What “Ibong Adarna script PDF” can mean
A learning module explains the story and activities but is not necessarily a scene-by-scene play. DepEd’s Grade 7 Filipino listings from 2014 and 2022 are educational materials with stated conditions for use, copying, and printing; read the conditions on the actual file before reproducing passages.

A source text is the complete narrative poem (the korido) from which a performance can be adapted. It contains the story, not finished stage directions, blocking, or dialogue formatted for actors.
A stage adaptation reorganizes episodes into scenes and may add a narrator, shortened dialogue, music, puppets, or movement. User-uploaded documents titled “Ibong Adarna Script for Play” or “Ibong Adarna Full Script” are discovery leads, not authenticated editions. One upload even warns that its reference is uncertain, so accuracy, authorship, and reuse rights are unverified.

Reliable material to use as your story reference
Adarna House annotated korido
Adarna House lists a Filipino 2016 edition edited and annotated by Virgilio S. Almario (267 pages, ISBN 9789715086066). The publisher presents it as the original korido and complete story. It is a strong reference for an adaptation, but it is a book—not a published stage-script edition.

| Adarna House, 2016 | Filipino annotated complete korido; 267 pages; ISBN 9789715086066 | Checking the full plot, language, and annotations before adapting |
| Adriana Printing Co., Inc., 2020 | 232-page edition; ISBN 978-971-0389-47-6 | School reading reference; confirm contents and permissions in the copy you obtain |
| Phoenix Publishing House, Inc., 2025 | Grade 7 worktext with a 2025 copyright year | Guided classroom study rather than an assumed performance script |
Availability, prices, and local stock can change. None of these catalog records establishes a licensed, ready-to-perform script.
The curriculum-supported route: make an adaptation
The 2024–25 MATATAG Filipino curriculum explicitly includes writing a shadow-play script about important events in Ibong Adarna and creating the puppets required for the presentation. That is a learning activity, not evidence that a standard government script exists.

- Choose a dependable source text. Establish which edition your class will cite and keep page references for plot decisions.
- Define the format. A shadow play needs silhouettes, a light source, a screen, a narrator, and concise lines. A staged play can use actors, sets, and more dialogue.
- Select episodes. For a short performance, identify the essential chain of events—Don Pedro and Don Diego’s failed searches, Don Juan’s journey, the magical bird, and the resolution—then omit or narrate transitions rather than forcing every episode into dialogue.
- Draft a scene list. Give each scene a location, characters, conflict, and exit. Mark narration separately from spoken lines and include sound, lighting, and prop cues.
- Assign practical roles. Plan actors or puppeteers, narrator, voice performers, stage manager, lighting operator, and prop builders. Avoid assigning more characters than the class can manage.
- Check the text against the source. Verify names, sequence, relationships, and the ending. Label inventions or modernized language as adaptation choices.
- Clear reproduction and performance use. Follow the conditions attached to the DepEd material or publisher edition. Do not upload a copied book or someone else’s script merely because the PDF is easy to download.
How to evaluate a downloaded PDF
- Identify the publisher or author. A filename and attractive cover are not provenance.
- Look for edition details. Check title page, copyright page, ISBN, date, editor, and source references.
- Compare plot and language. Check several episodes against a reliable complete text; unexplained omissions or contradictory character names are warning signs.
- Separate adaptation from quotation. Modern dialogue, added scenes, and narrator commentary may be useful but should not be presented as the original work.
- Check rights. A school’s permission to use a learning module does not automatically authorize commercial publication, public distribution, or wholesale copying of a publisher’s book.
- Preserve attribution. Credit the source edition, editor, adapter, performers, and any music or images used.
What a usable performance script should contain
A classroom-ready document normally includes a cast list, pronunciation or character notes, scene headings, narrator passages, dialogue, entrances and exits, prop and costume notes, lighting or shadow-screen cues, estimated running time, and adaptation credits. A PDF that only reproduces narrative paragraphs may still help with reading, but it is not operational stage paperwork.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When a PDF is the wrong solution
If your goal is to understand the story, use a complete, annotated or school edition and a DepEd module. If your goal is a performance, adapt from that source and write a script suited to your cast, venue, and time. If your goal is publication or a recorded public performance, obtain permission for any protected edition, translation, illustrations, music, or third-party adaptation. A user-uploaded “full script” cannot by itself answer those rights questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an official Ibong Adarna stage-script PDF?
The available records do not establish one authoritative, reusable stage-script edition. They identify learning materials, source texts, and user-uploaded adaptations instead.
Can I print a DepEd Ibong Adarna PDF for class?
DepEd listings state conditions for use, copying, and printing, but you should read the conditions on the specific 2014 or 2022 file and follow them for your intended activity.
Which book should I use to write a script?
The Adarna House 2016 Filipino edition edited and annotated by Virgilio S. Almario is a documented complete korido reference. It is source material, not a ready-made play script.
