Watch the main Terrifier movies in release order: Terrifier (2016), Terrifier 2 (2022), then Terrifier 3 (2024). That is also the clearest story order for a first-time viewer. All Hallows’ Eve and Damien Leone’s early short films are optional franchise history, not required entries between the three feature films.
The best order for a first watch
- Terrifier (2016)
- Terrifier 2 (2022)
- Terrifier 3 (2024)
The films were released in that sequence, and the later entries build on the continuing conflict between Art the Clown, Sienna Shaw and Jonathan. Watching them in release order also gives the character introductions and story developments their intended context.

1. Terrifier (2016)
Begin with Terrifier, the first feature-length film centered on David Howard Thornton’s version of Art the Clown. Although it premiered at the Telluride Horror Show Film Festival in 2016, its limited theatrical and Blu-ray/DVD release followed in 2018. It is commonly identified as the first feature in the franchise.
This film establishes Art’s silent, sadistic persona and the series’ extreme practical-horror style. It is comparatively self-contained, but it provides the essential starting point for understanding why the sequels treat Art as an established supernatural threat rather than introducing him from scratch.

Physical-media option: If you want a permanent copy of the first film, search for Terrifier Blu-ray or Terrifier 2016 Blu-ray. Editions, packaging, stock and prices can vary.
2. Terrifier 2 (2022)
Watch Terrifier 2 next. Damien Leone’s sequel opened nationwide in the United States on October 6, 2022, and expands the franchise considerably. It introduces Sienna Shaw and her brother Jonathan as Art’s principal adversaries, giving the series a more developed central conflict and a larger-scale narrative.
Do not skip the first film if you are approaching the series for the first time. Terrifier 2 is designed as a continuation, and watching the original first makes Art’s return and the sequel’s escalation easier to follow.
Physical-media option: A Terrifier 2 Blu-ray or Terrifier 2 4K Blu-ray is a practical choice for viewers collecting the required films. The film has been issued in DVD, Blu-ray and 4K formats, although the exact edition available may depend on territory and retailer.

Finish the currently released main trilogy with Terrifier 3. Cineverse identifies it as a 2024 release, and it received its U.S. theatrical release on October 11, 2024. The story continues Sienna and Art’s conflict while moving the setting from Halloween into the Christmas season.
Rank #2
- After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.
Because Terrifier 3 follows the events and character arcs established in Terrifier 2, it should not be your starting point. Watching it last preserves the progression from the original standalone feature to the broader Sienna-centered storyline.
Physical-media option: For a disc-based collection, Terrifier 3 4K Blu-ray is the most directly relevant premium-format search. The film has digital and physical releases, including DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD-related editions. Check the listing carefully before buying because included discs, regional compatibility, packaging and availability can differ.
Where to watch the Terrifier movies in the U.S.
Streaming catalogs change frequently, and availability can differ by country, account, date and subscription tier. The following is a U.S.-focused snapshot based on listings checked in late July 2026—not a promise of a permanent streaming home. Check JustWatch or the service’s own current listing immediately before viewing.
| Film | Reported U.S. options | Rental or purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Terrifier | Peacock, Prime Video, Fubo and several free ad-supported services, including Tubi, Pluto TV and Xumo Play | Amazon Video, Apple TV and Fandango At Home |
| Terrifier 2 | Prime Video, Screambox Amazon Channel and other channel bundles; free ad-supported listings included Pluto TV, Tubi and The Roku Channel | Amazon Video, Apple TV and Fandango At Home |
| Terrifier 3 | Prime Video, YouTube TV, Screambox Amazon Channel and Tubi; the official film site also identifies Screambox as a streaming home | Amazon Video, Apple TV and Fandango At Home |
These listings should be treated as a starting point rather than a fixed watch plan. A title may appear to be included through a channel add-on rather than a standard subscription, and a free listing may be ad-supported. If one film is unavailable on your preferred service, renting or buying the missing entry can be simpler than changing subscriptions.

Do you need to watch All Hallows’ Eve?
No. All Hallows’ Eve (2013) is optional and is not “Terrifier 1.” It is an anthology film about a babysitter who watches a videotape containing several horror stories linked by a murderous clown. The film is valuable for viewers interested in the earlier development of the Art the Clown concept, but it is not required to understand the three numbered feature films.
If you want to include it, watch it before or after the trilogy as bonus background, rather than treating it as the first chapter of the main story. Current U.S. listings have included AMC+, Shudder-related channels, YouTube TV, Philo, Tubi and The Roku Channel, but its availability is especially subject to change.
What about The 9th Circle and the 2011 short Terrifier?
Damien Leone’s short films The 9th Circle and Terrifier (2011) are optional origin material for completists. They show earlier stages in the development of the character and predate the feature trilogy, but they should not be inserted between Terrifier, Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 on a first viewing.

There is also an important production distinction: Mike Giannelli played Art in the early shorts, while David Howard Thornton plays Art in the feature films. That makes the shorts interesting as franchise history, but it is another reason not to treat them as required chapters in the modern feature-film continuity.
A completist viewing order
After your first watch, a reasonable expanded order is:
- The 9th Circle (short)
- Terrifier (short, 2011)
- All Hallows’ Eve (2013)
- Terrifier (2016)
- Terrifier 2 (2022)
- Terrifier 3 (2024)
This is a production-history order, not a required definitive story chronology. The early shorts and All Hallows’ Eve are best approached as related background that shows how Art developed before the feature trilogy took shape.

Physical media and companion reading
Physical media is particularly useful for this franchise because streaming licenses move between services and the films may not all be available in one subscription. A basic collection checklist is:
- Terrifier on Blu-ray or DVD
- Terrifier 2 on Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray
- Terrifier 3 on Blu-ray or 4K UHD
- All Hallows’ Eve on disc, if you want the optional anthology
For readers who want companion material rather than another film, Titan Books lists Terrifier 2: The Official Movie Novelization by Tim Waggoner as a paperback released on October 8, 2024. It is optional reading after watching Terrifier 2, not part of the movie order. Cineverse has also announced a Terrifier 3 novelization through its Bloody Press publishing arm.
Common ordering mistakes
- Starting with All Hallows’ Eve: It is an earlier anthology connected to Art’s development, not the first numbered feature.
- Calling All Hallows’ Eve “Terrifier 1”: The first feature is Terrifier (2016).
- Putting the shorts between the feature films: They are optional origin material and do not improve a first viewing of the trilogy.
- Assuming every service listing means the title is included: Some listings refer to channel bundles, rentals, purchases or ad-supported viewing.
- Assuming a listing is permanent: Streaming rights are territory-specific and time-sensitive, so verify the current option before subscribing or planning a movie night.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is All Hallows’ Eve the first Terrifier movie?
No. All Hallows’ Eve is a 2013 anthology that includes an earlier appearance of the Art the Clown concept. The main feature order starts with Terrifier (2016), followed by Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3.
Can I watch Terrifier 3 without watching the first two?
You can, but it is not recommended. Terrifier 3 continues the conflict between Art, Sienna and Jonathan, so watching Terrifier and Terrifier 2 first provides the intended character and story context.
Are the Terrifier short films required?
No. The 9th Circle and Terrifier (2011) are optional shorts for viewers interested in Damien Leone’s development of Art. They are not required before the three feature films.

What is the correct release order for the main films?
The release order is Terrifier (2016), Terrifier 2 (2022) and Terrifier 3 (2024). It is the recommended first-watch order.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Watch Terrifier, then Terrifier 2, then Terrifier 3. Add All Hallows’ Eve, The 9th Circle and the 2011 Terrifier short only if you want optional background on Art the Clown’s development. Verify current U.S. streaming listings before watching, since availability changes by service and location.
