The Game Awards 2025 took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The Opening Act and livestream began at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT, while the main ceremony was scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT. The event is now over, but the official broadcast replay remains available, and viewers could watch live for free through YouTube, Twitch and other partner platforms.
When did The Game Awards 2025 start?
The Game Awards 2025 was held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
There were two important start times:
- 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT: The Opening Act and the livestream began.
- 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT: The main awards ceremony began.
The official announcement scheduled the main ceremony for 5:00–8:00 p.m. PT, or 8:00–11:00 p.m. ET. That was a planned three-hour window, not a guarantee that the broadcast would end exactly on time.
The different times explain why some listings said 7:30 p.m. ET while others said 8:00 p.m. ET. The earlier time referred to the Opening Act, not the start of the main ceremony. See the official schedule announcement and the official YouTube livestream listing.

The Game Awards 2025 times around the world
Viewers in Europe, India, Japan and Australia watched on Friday, December 12, because the Los Angeles broadcast began after midnight in those regions.

Where could you watch The Game Awards 2025?
Official YouTube livestream
The simplest option was the official Game Awards YouTube broadcast. It offered a free official feed, including a 4K/60fps presentation, and the full event was available as a replay after the live broadcast ended.
Official Twitch channel
The official Twitch broadcast was also free to watch. Twitch promoted global 2K streaming, chat features and creator co-streaming. A Twitch account was not generally necessary simply to view the stream, although signing in could be required for chat, interactive features or Drops eligibility.
Prime Video
For the first time, The Game Awards streamed live on Prime Video globally where the service was available. Prime Video access was included with a Prime membership; the announcement did not describe the event as a separate pay-per-view purchase. However, Prime was optional because the official YouTube and Twitch broadcasts were free. Visit Prime Video for the service and regional availability.

Other official platforms
The broadcast was also available through Steam, TikTok Live, X, Facebook Live and Instagram Live, along with regional or platform partners. Platform controls, video quality and availability could differ by location.
Creator co-streams
Participating creators on Twitch and YouTube could rebroadcast the event to their communities. Co-streams were useful for viewers who wanted commentary or a shared chat, but they could include reactions, delays, interruptions or different picture quality. For the cleanest and most synchronized presentation, the official YouTube or Twitch feed was the better choice.
Was The Game Awards 2025 free to watch?
Yes. Viewers did not need to pay to watch through the official YouTube, Twitch or other free partner streams. Prime Video was an additional option for people who already had Prime access, but a Prime membership was not required to watch the event.

What was the Opening Act?
The Opening Act was the portion of the broadcast before the main ceremony. It explains the half-hour difference between the published 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT livestream start and the 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT main-show start.
Anyone wanting the complete broadcast would have joined at the earlier time. Viewers interested only in the awards ceremony could have tuned in at the main-show start, although announcements and other content could appear before the ceremony officially began.

Watching any video did not automatically guarantee every reward. Drops depended on an eligible Drops-enabled Twitch stream, the relevant account conditions and, where required, linking the appropriate game account. A YouTube broadcast, Prime Video stream, Twitch clip or ordinary non-eligible stream would not necessarily count.

Can you watch the full show afterward?
Yes. The official YouTube page published the broadcast as a replay after the event. Because this is now an archived event, the page should be treated as a replay rather than a live stream.
Be aware that the replay title, thumbnail, video description and live chat may reveal winners, game announcements and other surprises. Viewers avoiding spoilers should open the video without expanding the chat or reading the surrounding details.

The show featured awards, world premieres, game announcements and musical performances. The official post-event report highlighted reveals including 007 First Light, Invincible VS, Resident Evil: Requiem, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, among others. Common viewing questions and problems
- The date appears different: North American viewers watched on December 11, while the UK, continental Europe, India, Japan and Australia watched on December 12.
- The stream shows a countdown: A page may display a countdown before the broadcast or an archived replay afterward, depending on when it is opened.
- A co-stream is behind: Creator streams may have different delays. Use an official feed for synchronized announcements.
- The official stream is unavailable: Try another authorized platform or participating co-stream rather than an unknown restream.
- Drops did not appear: Check that the stream was Drops-enabled, that the correct account was linked and that the required viewing time was completed.
- Video quality differs: Official feeds and social-platform versions may use different resolutions and controls; the official YouTube stream was the clearest choice for high-quality viewing.
The next Game Awards ceremony is scheduled for December 10, 2026, according to the official announcement. That date is separate from the archived 2025 event covered here.
