In the United States, Season 1 of The Day of the Jackal is currently listed on Peacock, with all 10 episodes available. In the United Kingdom, Sky identifies Sky Atlantic, Sky Go and NOW as the series’ official home. Rights elsewhere are country-specific and can change, so viewers in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe should confirm the title in their local service before subscribing. This guide reflects availability checked on August 18, 2026.
What is The Day of the Jackal?
This 2024 television adaptation and reimagining of Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 political-thriller novel stars Eddie Redmayne as the assassin known as the Jackal and Lashana Lynch as British intelligence officer Bianca Pullman. It combines drama, action and thriller elements. Season 1 has 10 episodes and is rated TV-MA on Peacock. The series is separate from the 1973 film starring Edward Fox.
Peacock lists the US premiere as November 14, 2024. A second season has been announced, but that renewal does not mean Season 2 is currently available.
See Peacock’s official series page.

The original launch-market list for Canada, Australia and New Zealand came from a November 2024 viewing guide, so it is historical context rather than proof of an August 2026 catalog. Tom’s Guide’s launch-market guide provides that context. TVNZ’s FY2025 results also mention the title, which confirms historical TVNZ availability but not a current listing: TVNZ FY2025 results (PDF).

How to watch in the United Kingdom

Australia
Binge was the Australian launch-market service. Confirm that Season 1 is still in Binge’s catalog and check its current plan, device and cancellation terms.
New Zealand
TVNZ+ carried the series at launch and was described then as a free or ad-supported local option. That does not make it a permanent or worldwide free stream; check TVNZ+’s current listing and any geographic restrictions.

Watching while traveling abroad
If you already subscribe at home
- Open the provider’s official app or website first and check its travel or portability rules for your destination.
- Keep the home-market account, payment method and subscription active.
- Download episodes before departure only when the service permits offline viewing and the downloads remain valid.
- If playback is blocked abroad, use the provider’s support and travel guidance before attempting workarounds.
NOW offline downloads
NOW states that selected shows can be downloaded on Apple and Android phones or tablets. Its stated rules are service-specific: downloads can be made twice, remain on the device for up to 30 days, and provide a 48-hour viewing window after playback begins. These limits should not be applied to Peacock or another service without checking that service’s own policy.
If you live permanently in another country
Use the licensed service available in your country. A VPN is not a substitute for local eligibility, payment, residency or app-store requirements, and catalogs, subtitles, audio tracks and release windows may differ by territory.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What a VPN can—and cannot—do
A VPN may help an existing subscriber connect to a service associated with their legitimate home subscription while temporarily abroad, but it is not guaranteed. Streaming platforms actively block known VPN addresses, and some apps also check GPS, device location, account region or payment region.
Best Value
- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
- Choose a reputable VPN and review both the VPN’s terms and the streaming provider’s terms.
- Install the VPN on your device or compatible router and sign in.
- Connect to a server in the country tied to your valid subscription.
- Open the streaming app, or use a private browser window, and sign in to the existing account.
- If playback fails, disconnect and reconnect to another server in the same country, clear cookies, disable browser location permission where appropriate, restart the app and follow the provider’s official troubleshooting steps.
Free VPNs are generally a poor streaming choice because congestion, data limits, privacy practices and blocked servers can make access unreliable. A VPN cannot normally solve international card verification, country-specific payment rules, account-residency checks or app-store billing-region restrictions. Follow local law and the streaming service’s contract. Do not use piracy, torrents or unofficial mirror sites.
When the title appears in search but not in your app
- The result may belong to another country.
- The title may have left your local catalog.
- Your app may be signed into a different account region.
- Web, mobile and television apps may expose different catalogs.
- You may have found the 1973 film rather than the 2024 television series.
Search the exact title with “series” and “2024,” open the provider’s official page while signed in, check your billing country and parental controls, and verify the listing through the provider’s own search.
When a VPN connects but playback is blocked
- Try another server in the same legitimate home country.
- Clear cookies or use a private browser window.
- Restart the streaming app and check whether it has device-location access.
- Confirm that your account and payment method remain valid for the selected market.
- Read the provider’s travel and household rules.
- If the block persists, use the licensed service in your current country instead of repeatedly trying to bypass it.
Is it free?
There is no worldwide free option. A free, ad-supported listing or a trial may exist in a particular country at a particular time, but it must be verified on that service’s current page. Historical TVNZ+ coverage should not be treated as proof of free access today, and unofficial “free” streams are not legitimate alternatives.
How many episodes are available?
Peacock’s current listing contains one available season with 10 episodes. Peacock has announced a Season 2 renewal, but no release or availability claim should be inferred from that announcement alone. Peacock’s renewal announcement covers the renewal, not a current Season 2 catalog.
