The 2026 Australian Open men’s final is over. Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic 2–6, 6–2, 6–3, 7–5 at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, February 1, 2026. There is no live match to stream now, but fans can still look for official Australian Open highlights and check whether an ESPN replay is available in their country and on their subscription.

The clearest free-access option identified is the Australian Open’s official video archive, which lists final highlights and footage from the first three sets. A complete, unrestricted free replay has not been established for U.S. viewers; ESPN’s replay and authentication requirements can vary by platform, territory and current rights.

Where to watch the 2026 Australian Open final now

Option What is available Important limitation
Official Australian Open video archive “Carlos Alcaraz v Novak Djokovic Highlights | Australian Open 2026 Final” and “Alcaraz v Djokovic First Three Sets Final” These are highlights or partial-match videos, not a confirmed full-match replay.
ESPN Australian Open replay listing The ESPN Australian Open watch page lists “(1) Alcaraz vs. (4) Djokovic (Men’s Final)” and related clips. The listing does not establish that full-match playback is unrestricted or free. Login, a subscription, a television-provider account or regional eligibility may be required.
Official Australian Open match page Final score, match duration, statistics, point-by-point information, rally analysis and related videos. It is a results and information page, not necessarily a full-video player.

To find the official clips, search the Australian Open video library for the exact title “Carlos Alcaraz v Novak Djokovic Highlights | Australian Open 2026 Final.” The archive also lists “Alcaraz v Djokovic First Three Sets Final.” Availability can change by country and over time, so use the archive’s current player and access notice rather than assuming that every video is available everywhere.

How U.S. viewers can check for a replay

  1. Open the official ESPN Australian Open watch page and search for “Alcaraz vs. Djokovic (Men’s Final)”.
  2. Select the full-match entry if one is offered, rather than a short clip or highlight package.
  3. Follow the current sign-in prompt. ESPN may request an ESPN account, a participating television-provider login or a subscription, depending on the service carrying the replay.
  4. If the full match is unavailable, use the official Australian Open highlights and match page for the verified result, statistics and key sequences.

Do not treat the presence of a title in an ESPN catalog as proof that the entire match can be watched free without authentication. The original U.S. distribution and the current replay entitlement are separate questions.

If you want to watch authorized ESPN or Australian Open video on a television rather than a phone or computer, a streaming device for watching sports—such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max—can provide a compatible connected-TV route when the relevant app is supported. It does not provide the match itself, remove subscription requirements or make a replay free. App availability, account requirements and replay rights still depend on the service and your location.

The original U.S. broadcast schedule

For archival reference, ESPN’s 2026 Australian Open coverage plan scheduled the men’s championship for 3:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, February 1, on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. A 30-minute preview program was scheduled for 3:00 a.m. ET.

ESPN said the tournament was distributed across its networks and digital platforms, including the ESPN App, ESPN+, ESPN Unlimited and bundled Disney+/Hulu/ESPN access. The exact platform could vary according to the session and court. That schedule described the live broadcast window; it should not be presented as a current live-stream option now that the final has been completed.

What happened in the final?

Alcaraz beat Djokovic 2–6, 6–2, 6–3, 7–5 in 3 hours and 2 minutes. Djokovic won the opening set, but Alcaraz recovered to take the next three and close out the championship in four sets.

The victory gave Alcaraz his first Australian Open title and completed his career Grand Slam at 22 years and eight months. He became the youngest man to complete the set of four major championships and the first player to defeat Djokovic in an Australian Open final.

For Djokovic, it was his 11th Australian Open final. He had been pursuing an unprecedented 11th title at the tournament as well as a record 25th major championship. The defeat ended that attempt, although it did not erase the scale of his Melbourne record.

Alcaraz and Djokovic’s rivalry after the match

This was the 10th meeting between the two players. Djokovic led the overall rivalry 5–4 before the final; Alcaraz’s victory made the head-to-head record 5–5.

Alcaraz also extended his advantage in the most important setting: he is now 3–0 against Djokovic in Grand Slam finals. Their previous major-final meetings had already made the rivalry one of the defining matchups of the period, and the Australian Open result added the one Grand Slam title missing from Alcaraz’s collection.

The original preview: what the match was about

Although the match is now a completed event, the pre-match stakes explain why the final attracted so much attention.

  • Alcaraz’s career milestone: He was trying to win the only major title absent from his collection and become the youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam.
  • Djokovic’s records: He was chasing a 25th major and an 11th Australian Open title after reaching his 11th final in Melbourne.
  • A demanding route to the final: Alcaraz had defeated Alexander Zverev in the longest Australian Open men’s semifinal on record. Djokovic had beaten defending champion Jannik Sinner in a five-set semifinal.

The semifinal workload was relevant to the physical shape of the championship match, but it should not be reduced to a simple fatigue explanation. The Australian Open’s post-match analysis found that Alcaraz made 48 sprints to Djokovic’s 22 and won more long rallies across the final three sets.

How Alcaraz turned the match around

1. He changed the effectiveness of his second serve

Djokovic controlled the early exchanges, and Alcaraz won only one of eight points behind his second serve in the first set. In the second set, Alcaraz slowed that second serve and won all six of his second-serve points.

That change did more than improve a single statistic. It reduced Djokovic’s opportunity to attack immediately and gave Alcaraz a better chance to begin longer rallies on his own terms.

2. He made the match more physical

Once Alcaraz stopped giving Djokovic such easy second-serve opportunities, the rallies became a larger part of the contest. His movement and sprinting helped him extend points, particularly over the last three sets, where the official analysis credited him with winning more long rallies.

3. Djokovic’s error count rose under pressure

Djokovic finished with 46 unforced errors, including 31 in the final two sets. That number needs context: Alcaraz’s depth, movement and willingness to prolong exchanges contributed to the pressure behind those errors. The turning point was therefore a combination of Alcaraz’s adjustments and Djokovic’s declining efficiency, not simply a single spectacular shot or isolated game.

Can you watch the complete final for free?

There is no confirmed universally free, authorized full-match stream for U.S. viewers in the available information. The official Australian Open archive provides the strongest free-access route through its highlight listings and partial-match footage. ESPN’s catalog identifies the final and related clips, but a current listing does not guarantee unrestricted full-match playback.

Full replay rights may depend on the country where you are watching, the platform carrying the event and whether you have the necessary ESPN or bundled-service access. If a site promises the complete final free through an unauthorized mirror, unofficial social-media upload or “free stream” page, it is not an official viewing option and may create legal, security or privacy risks. A VPN should not be used to circumvent regional restrictions.
