For the next game: Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The NFL’s announced rotation assigns the 2027 broadcast to CBS. On a Vizio TV, use your local CBS affiliate through an antenna, a participating live-TV provider, or a streaming service that confirms live local CBS in your ZIP code. The NFL app can help with provider authentication, but NFL+ is not automatically a live, big-screen Super Bowl solution.
The correct method depends on your Vizio model, location, internet connection and access to local CBS. The steps below cover free over-the-air viewing, provider logins, conditional Paramount+ access, casting limits and reliable fallbacks.
What you need before kickoff
- A Vizio SmartCast or Vizio OS television, with its model year available if possible.
- Either a local CBS signal from an antenna or a subscription that carries your local CBS affiliate.
- Internet access for apps and streaming; an account login when the service requires one.
- A supported HDMI streaming device—Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV or a game console—as a backup if the Vizio app is unavailable.
Vizio’s app catalog and menus vary by model, operating system, firmware and region. NFL documentation specifically lists Vizio Smart TVs made in 2020 or newer for TV-provider authentication; that listing does not guarantee that every NFL-related or streaming app works on older sets. Option 1: Watch your local CBS station with an antenna
An antenna is the only generally free method, and it works without internet, provided your home can receive the local CBS broadcast signal.

- Connect an indoor or outdoor antenna to the TV’s coaxial antenna input.
- Open Input, WatchFree+ or the channel-setup area. The label depends on the Vizio model and firmware.
- Choose Antenna or TV, then run an automatic channel scan.
- Find the scanned channel for your local CBS affiliate and test it before game day.
- Tune to that station on February 14, 2027.
Reception depends on distance from the transmitter, terrain, building materials and antenna placement. Vizio manuals document over-the-air and WatchFree+ channel access, while noting model-specific menu differences: 2024 HD/FHD manual and 2024 4K manual.
Option 2: Install the NFL app on a supported Vizio
- Connect the TV to the internet and turn it on.
- Press the V button or Home on the remote.
- Open the Vizio app store or app-search screen.
- Search for NFL.
- Select the NFL app and press OK to install it.
- Open the app and follow its sign-in instructions.
This is the installation path in the NFL’s Vizio instructions; button names and layouts can differ. Installing the app does not itself provide game rights. For games carried by a local CBS station, the app may require a participating TV-provider account through its TV-provider sign-in flow. A provider login also depends on the service carrying your local affiliate.
Why NFL+ is not the default TV answer
Do not buy NFL+ solely on the assumption that it will deliver the live Super Bowl to your Vizio. The NFL says certain live local, primetime and postseason games available through NFL+ are restricted to a phone or tablet and cannot be cast to a television during the live event. Check the event-specific terms before relying on NFL+; its mobile access and big-screen access are not interchangeable. See the NFL casting policy.

Option 3: Use a cable or live-TV provider
The requirement is the local CBS affiliate, not merely a CBS-branded entertainment, news or national feed.

- Check the provider’s channel lookup by ZIP code and confirm that your local CBS station is included.
- Open the provider’s official Vizio app if your model offers it.
- Alternatively, open the NFL app and select TV Provider (or the equivalent sign-in option), then authenticate with your provider credentials.
- If the app is missing or unsupported, install the provider app on an HDMI-connected Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV device or game console.
- Test the local CBS stream before the broadcast begins.
Available providers and local channels vary by market. Services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo and DIRECTV stream may be possibilities, but verify the station at your address, the selected plan’s live-sports rights, trial conditions, taxes and cancellation terms on the provider’s official site before subscribing: YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo and DIRECTV.
Option 4: Check the CBS/Paramount streaming route
The NFL’s media-rights announcement says CBS games are streamed live on Paramount+, but availability for your Super Bowl stream still depends on the current plan, local station rights, geography and device support. Before paying, verify all four points:

- The plan’s live-sports terms include the Super Bowl broadcast, not only on-demand CBS programming.
- The Paramount+ app supports your exact Vizio model and region.
- A supported HDMI device is available if the Vizio app is absent or unstable.
Do not confuse Paramount+ with Paramount Network, CBS News or an on-demand-only offering. Check the current terms at Paramount+ and compare them with the NFL’s broadcast announcement: NFL media distribution agreements.
Can you cast the game from a phone?
Only use casting when the streaming service explicitly supports sending its live playback to your Vizio or connected device. Screen mirroring is different: protected sports video may block it, reduce quality or stop when playback begins. The NFL specifically prohibits casting certain live NFL+ postseason content to televisions.
For compatible Vizio mobile features, Vizio says the phone and TV should be on the same Wi-Fi network and the mobile app should be current. That guidance controls the TV and compatible features; it does not make every sports app castable. See Vizio’s mobile-app guidance.

What if the app is missing or the stream fails?
App missing from the TV
- Confirm the exact model number and approximate model year.
- Restart the TV and router, then confirm the TV is online.
- Install any available TV firmware update.
- Search the app catalog from the Home screen, not only the visible app row.
- Check the service’s compatibility list for your model and country.
- Use an official app on an HDMI-connected streaming device if the native app is unavailable.
- Keep an antenna ready as an independent fallback.
Do not sideload arbitrary apps onto the television.
Buffering, freezing or failed sign-in
- Stop other high-bandwidth streams in the household.
- Restart the TV, router and streaming app.
- Test another video to determine whether the fault is network-wide or app-specific.
- Use Ethernet if your TV or streaming device supports it, or improve Wi-Fi placement.
- Sign out and back in, and confirm that the account is entitled to the local CBS station.
- Move playback to a supported external device if the Vizio app remains unreliable.
- Switch to the antenna feed if your local CBS signal is available.
Does Vizio WatchFree+ show the Super Bowl?
Do not assume it does. Vizio advertises 300-plus free live channels and lists an NFL Channel, but those FAST channels do not establish rights to the live local CBS Super Bowl broadcast. Super Bowl LX was played on February 8, 2026, with NBC and Peacock viewing arrangements. Those instructions do not establish the plan for Super Bowl LXI. For the next game, use the February 14, 2027 date and CBS assignment above, then recheck event-specific terms as kickoff approaches.
