What the official broadcast covered
The Vatican announced global coverage of the complete Requiem Mass and the procession that followed it. The Mass was held in St. Peter’s Square and was presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals.
After the Mass, the coffin was transferred to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major for burial. Pope Francis had expressed a wish to be buried there, and his final testament named the basilica as his burial place. The Vatican-published text of his testament provides the primary source for that request.
When the funeral was broadcast
The original Vatican broadcast began at 10:00 a.m. Rome time on April 26, 2025. That was the scheduled live start—not a current broadcast time.

PBS News
PBS News funeral coverage is a reputable secondary archive page created for the April 26, 2025 event. It may offer a useful alternative view, but PBS’s video availability can depend on the current player and your location. It should not be presented as a new or ongoing 2026 broadcast.
CNN and Fox News coverage pages
CNN and Fox News announced live television and digital coverage at the time of the funeral. Their announcements can help document the original media coverage, but an announcement does not guarantee that a complete free replay remains online. If you search those sites, use their current video archives rather than third-party mirror pages.

Why you may see “live now” in search results
Search and social posts can preserve the wording used during the April 2025 event long after the broadcast has ended. “Live now” was accurate only during the original coverage window. Pope Francis died on April 21, 2025, according to the Vatican biography; the Funeral Mass followed five days later on April 26.
For that reason, avoid pages claiming that the funeral is upcoming, happening today, or being streamed through an unknown service. A legitimate archive should identify the event as the April 26, 2025 Funeral Mass and should lead to Vatican, PBS, or another established broadcaster’s domain.

- Try the direct Vatican News YouTube listing. Do not rely only on an embedded player on an old news page.
- Open the Vatican.va event page. It is the official fallback for the event record and any surviving video link.
- Check regional restrictions. PBS and broadcaster archives may have geographic licensing limits.
- Disable suspicious pop-ups. Do not download a player, browser extension, or “special access” file from an unofficial mirror site.
- Try another current browser or the broadcaster’s own app. This is a general playback step, not a reason to purchase a new streaming device.
No paid streaming subscription or special hardware is required for the official online replay paths identified here. The availability of any archived video can nevertheless change.
