NFL Sunday Ticket is worth it if you want many live, out-of-market Sunday-afternoon NFL games. It is not an all-access NFL subscription: local, nationally televised, preseason and postseason games are outside the standalone package. The key choice is whether to buy standalone Sunday Ticket through YouTube Primetime Channels or add it to YouTube TV’s broader live-TV service.
NFL Sunday Ticket is worth it if your main goal is watching many live, out-of-market Sunday-afternoon NFL games during the regular season. It is not an all-access NFL package and does not replace local broadcasts, primetime services, Thursday Night Football, preseason games, or the playoffs.
For most viewers, the decision comes down to two choices:
- Standalone NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube Primetime Channels: best when you mainly need out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games and already have another way to watch local and nationally televised NFL games.
- YouTube TV plus NFL Sunday Ticket: best when you also want local broadcast stations, national games, many preseason games, postseason coverage, DVR and multiview in one live-TV ecosystem.
Before paying, make a list of the games you actually need. If your preferred team is local, if you mostly watch Sunday Night Football or the playoffs, or if you only want occasional games, Sunday Ticket may be an expensive answer to the wrong problem.

What NFL Sunday Ticket includes
NFL Sunday Ticket provides access to regular-season Sunday-afternoon games carried on CBS and FOX that are outside your local market. In practical terms, it is designed for fans who live away from their preferred team’s market and want to watch that team’s Sunday-afternoon games when those games are not being shown on a local broadcast.
The package is season-based, and Google also documents a month-to-month purchase option. The exact standard 2026–27 price should be checked at checkout: the official pricing information available for this guide confirms the purchase structures but does not expose a reliable standard-season price in its public text. Check the price, taxes, promotional terms and billing conditions before completing the order.
What NFL Sunday Ticket does not include
The exclusions are the most important part of the purchase decision. Standalone Sunday Ticket does not include:
- Preseason games
- Postseason and Super Bowl games
- Games televised locally in your market
- Nationally televised games
- Thursday Night Football
- Sunday Night Football
- Monday Night Football
- Select regular-season games, digital-exclusive games and international games
That distribution model means Sunday Ticket is not a replacement for every NFL source. A Sunday-afternoon game shown by your local CBS or FOX affiliate is still a local broadcast, not an out-of-market Sunday Ticket game. Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football and playoff games require the applicable local, national or streaming service. Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime is not included in YouTube TV.
Standalone Sunday Ticket versus YouTube TV plus Sunday Ticket
| Need | Standalone Sunday Ticket | YouTube TV plus Sunday Ticket |
|---|---|---|
| Out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games | Yes | Yes |
| Local CBS and FOX affiliates | No, unless you get them elsewhere | Generally included through the base plan, subject to location |
| National games | No | Many are available through the base plan’s channels, but distribution varies by network and event |
| Preseason and postseason coverage | No | YouTube TV supplies much of this coverage through its base-plan channel lineup, subject to the specific broadcast |
| DVR and multiview | More limited than the full YouTube TV ecosystem | YouTube TV includes DVR functionality and multiview |
| Requires a YouTube TV Base Plan | No | Yes |
Standalone access is available through YouTube Primetime Channels without a YouTube TV Base Plan. That is the cleaner option if you already receive local and national NFL games through an antenna, another live-TV service or the appropriate streaming subscriptions.
YouTube TV’s base plan is currently documented by Google at $82.99 per month. That price is separate from the Sunday Ticket purchase and can change, so verify the current checkout total. The bundle may be convenient, but convenience is not automatically savings: a viewer who only follows one out-of-market team could end up paying for a broad live-TV package that supplies channels they rarely watch.

Who is most likely to find Sunday Ticket worthwhile?
It is a strong fit when:
- You live outside your favorite team’s local broadcast market.
- You want to watch many of that team’s Sunday-afternoon games live.
- Your team is rarely selected for your local CBS or FOX broadcast.
- You want several Sunday-afternoon games available at the same time.
- You value watching at home with other members of your household.
- You would otherwise need several services or would miss a substantial portion of the games you care about.
The value increases with the number of included games you will genuinely watch. It is harder to justify if you plan to watch only a handful of games, since Sunday Ticket is a season-level commitment even when your interest is occasional.
It is usually a poor fit when:
- Your favorite team is local and most of its games are already available on local television.
- You mainly watch Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football or the playoffs.
- You want preseason games or every nationally distributed game.
- You mostly watch on a phone or tablet and do not need live out-of-market Sunday-afternoon television access.
- You only want RedZone, replays or condensed games.
- You are considering it without checking whether your desired games are already included in an existing service.
A simple way to decide
- List the games you want. Separate out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games from local games, primetime games, Thursday games, postseason games and replays.
- Identify your current market. A team you followed locally may become out-of-market when you move. Local availability determines which games YouTube shows and which broadcasts you receive.
- Mark what you already receive. Include local broadcast stations, an existing live-TV plan, NFL+, a streaming service for a particular national package and any other legitimate source you already pay for.
- Count the remaining need. If the remaining games are primarily live, out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games, standalone Sunday Ticket is the relevant product.
- Compare the two purchase routes. Choose standalone access if you do not need YouTube TV’s broader channel package. Choose YouTube TV plus Sunday Ticket only if local channels, national coverage, DVR, multiview and the single-service experience justify the additional monthly cost.
- Check the final terms. Confirm the current price, taxes, promotion, billing schedule, device compatibility, location eligibility and refund rules at checkout.
NFL Sunday Ticket billing and refund points
Google documents season passes as nonrefundable. Month-to-month plans can be canceled for future billing periods, but canceling does not refund the current billing period. Do not assume that canceling immediately will reverse the latest charge.

How household streaming works
Standard Sunday Ticket subscribers can receive unlimited streams at home when the home network is set correctly, with up to two streams outside the home. Google also documents family sharing for household members.
That does not mean a subscription is intended for unrelated households. Family sharing is household-based, and location or home-network rules can affect access. Student plans are more restrictive: they allow one signed-in device, one concurrent stream and no family sharing.
YouTube TV also offers DVR functionality and multiview. Eligible games can have condensed 45-minute replays after the live broadcast window, which is useful when live viewing is impossible—but a replay feature does not turn Sunday Ticket into a source for games excluded from the package.

Devices, internet speed and location requirements
YouTube services can be watched on computers, mobile devices, supported smart TVs, streaming devices and game consoles. Documented device families include Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Google TV, Chromecast, Apple TV, selected smart TVs, PlayStation and Xbox.
Exact model support can vary. Check your television or streaming device before subscribing rather than assuming that an app available on one model or operating-system version will work on another.
Google recommends a minimum download speed of 7 Mbps for the best live-streaming experience. That is a recommendation, not a guarantee: Wi-Fi congestion, device limitations, household traffic and network stability can still cause buffering. You also need to verify your location because local-market rules affect which games are available.
Before kickoff, check:
- Your YouTube or YouTube TV account is signed in on the intended device.
- The device model is supported and its software is current.
- Your connection meets the recommended speed and is stable during live streaming.
- Your location permissions and home area are correctly configured.
- You are not trying to watch a locally televised, nationally televised or otherwise excluded game through Sunday Ticket.
- Other household streams are not exceeding the rules for your plan.
Is NFL+ a cheaper or better alternative?
NFL+ is not a like-for-like replacement for Sunday Ticket. The official NFL product description covers live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games on phones and tablets, plus live out-of-market preseason games across supported devices and live audio for every game.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
NFL+ Premium adds NFL RedZone and full, condensed and All-22 game replays. That makes it a better fit for someone who wants mobile access to local or primetime games, RedZone, replays, NFL Network or analysis.
It is a poor fit if your non-negotiable requirement is watching live, out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games on a television. In that case, NFL+ may complement Sunday Ticket, but it does not replace its central out-of-market function.

Can an antenna replace Sunday Ticket?
No. An antenna receives free local over-the-air broadcasts when the signal, location and antenna are suitable. It can be a legitimate way to watch in-market games carried by local broadcast stations without paying for a live-TV subscription.
An indoor HDTV antenna can therefore reduce the cost of watching local CBS, FOX, NBC or ABC programming in some homes. It cannot unlock out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games and should be viewed as a local-game alternative or complement—not a Sunday Ticket replacement.

You moved away from your favorite team
You live in another market, your team is not regularly shown on the local Sunday-afternoon broadcast, and you want to watch most of its Sunday games live. This is the clearest Sunday Ticket use case. Start by checking whether any particular games are nationally televised or otherwise excluded.
You live in your team’s home market
Your local CBS or FOX affiliate already carries many Sunday-afternoon games. Sunday Ticket will not provide a workaround for those local broadcasts, so an antenna or an existing live-TV service may cover much of your need more efficiently.
You mainly watch the big national games
If your viewing consists mostly of Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football and the playoffs, Sunday Ticket is not the right foundation. Those games are outside the package’s central coverage.

First distinguish simultaneous household viewing from out-of-market coverage. Multiview through YouTube TV may be valuable, but it does not add games that the package excludes.

Final verdict: is NFL Sunday Ticket worth it?
Buy NFL Sunday Ticket when the problem you are solving is live access to many out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games. Standalone access is usually the more focused choice when you already have local and national coverage elsewhere. Add YouTube TV only when its local channels, broader live-TV lineup, DVR and multiview provide value beyond Sunday Ticket itself.
Do not buy it expecting an all-games NFL subscription. Local games, primetime games, Thursday Night Football, preseason, postseason, select regular-season games and digital-exclusive or international games may require different sources. Inventory your schedule first; then pay only for the coverage that is still missing.
