Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo use Streamlabs Cloudbot moderation tools, enable Cloudbot in your Streamlabs dashboard, give it moderator permissions in your channel, then open Cloudbot → Mod Tools and choose a protection preset or configure individual filters. Start with settings that fit your chat rules, then adjust them after watching how they affect real conversation.
Enable Cloudbot and grant moderator permissions
- Log in at Streamlabs.com. Open Cloudbot from the left navigation and enable it.
- Authorize Streamlabs to moderate your channel. The official setup guide gives these steps:
- Twitch or Kick: Open your channel chat, enter
/mod Streamlabs, and submit the command. - YouTube: Open YouTube Studio, go to Settings → Community, and add Streamlabs as a moderator.
- Twitch or Kick: Open your channel chat, enter
- In the Streamlabs dashboard, open Cloudbot’s Mod Tools. Select a protection level for a quick start, or leave the preset off and enable individual protections. Use the plus control beside a tool to adjust its settings. The question-mark control beside a protection level explains the settings included in that level.
Cloudbot needs both activation and moderator permissions for the documented moderation workflow to operate. Streamlabs’ setup guide covers Twitch, Kick, and YouTube; it does not establish that every feature works identically on every platform.
Choose a protection level or configure filters individually
The preset levels trade moderation strictness against the chance of restricting ordinary messages. Streamlabs describes Medium as balanced for most streams and recommends it; that is the vendor’s guidance, not an independently measured result.
| Level | What Streamlabs says it does | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Off | No chat restrictions | When you want no preset restrictions, or plan to configure only selected protections. |
| Minimum | Light protection | When you want a lighter preset and fewer restrictions on ordinary chat. |
| Medium | Balanced protection; recommended by Streamlabs for most streams | A starting preset if its included settings suit your community. |
| Maximum | Stronger protection | When a high-traffic chat or community with many visitors calls for stricter limits. |
If one kind of spam is the main problem, individual controls let you target it rather than apply a broader preset. The official guides do not publish accuracy rates, false-positive figures, or universal ideal thresholds, so review the effect on your own chat instead of assuming a preset or number fits every channel.

What each Cloudbot Mod Tool controls
| Tool | What it can restrict | Useful configuration detail |
|---|---|---|
| Caps Protection | Messages with excessive capital letters | Set minimum and maximum amounts and a maximum percentage; the shared punishment and exemption options also apply. |
| Symbol Protection | Messages containing too many symbols | Set amount and percentage thresholds, along with exemptions and punishment behavior. |
| Link Protection | Links from sites you do not allow, or links from any site unless the viewer has permission | Whitelist permitted sites, blacklist prohibited sites, and use individual permits where appropriate. |
| Word Protection | Words and phrases on a blacklist | Assign a punishment to custom entries; advanced users can enable a regular-expression option for a blacklist entry. |
| Paragraph Protection | Overly long messages | Set a maximum message length, in addition to the shared threshold and punishment controls. |
| Emote Protection | Messages with excessive emotes | Adjust amount and percentage thresholds and choose exemptions and punishment behavior. |
| Zalgo Protection | Text using Zalgo-style glitchy or combining characters | Use it to target that text pattern specifically. |
Set thresholds, exemptions, and punishments
Caps, Symbols, Emote, and Paragraph Protection share several preferences. Their practical effect depends on the threshold values you choose and on whether trusted viewers are exempt.
- Auto Permit: Exempt selected roles, such as subscribers or regulars, from the protection.
- Punishment: Choose what Cloudbot does when a message triggers the rule.
- Punishment message: Choose whether Cloudbot posts a response and customize that message if enabled.
- Thresholds: Set minimum and maximum amounts and a maximum percentage. Paragraph Protection also has a maximum message length.
For example, Streamlabs illustrates Caps Protection with a minimum amount of 5, a maximum amount of 10, and a maximum percentage of 45%. In that example, a message may be punished for exceeding the maximum number of capital letters, or for passing the minimum and having more than the allowed share of capitals. These are example values in Streamlabs’ guide, not a universal recommendation.

Choose thresholds in line with your community’s rules and the kind of messages you want to allow. Observe the results and revise settings if normal conversation is being caught or the unwanted pattern continues. Streamlabs documents the controls but does not publish a threshold that is right for every chat.
Choose Word Protection actions by severity
For blacklisted words or phrases, Streamlabs documents options to purge, timeout, or ban. Decide how severe a violation is under your channel’s rules before assigning an action; a ban is a different moderation choice from removing a single message.

Stop unwanted links without blocking useful ones
Link Protection supports site-level rules and individual viewer permissions:
- Whitelist: Allow links from sites you trust.
- Blacklist: Block links from sites that should not be allowed.
- Viewer permission: Moderators can enter
!permit <username>to authorize an individual viewer. Set Permit Duration to control how long that authorization lasts.
For a channel that wants to limit links but still share resources, a whitelist can preserve access to approved sites. An individual permit can suit a one-off exception. Check the configured duration so a temporary exception does not last longer than intended.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- Cloudbot is enabled, but messages are not being moderated: Check that Streamlabs has moderator permissions in the selected channel. For Twitch or Kick, the documented command is
/mod Streamlabsin channel chat; for YouTube, add Streamlabs under YouTube Studio’s Settings → Community. - A filter is not catching the pattern you expect: Open Cloudbot → Mod Tools, inspect that tool’s settings with the plus control, and check its thresholds, blacklist, or site rules. A protection level can bundle settings; use the question-mark control beside it to see what it includes.
- Ordinary messages are being restricted: Review the relevant amount, percentage, or message-length threshold, and consider whether Auto Permit should exempt a role. Lower the restriction or use a more targeted individual protection if that better matches your rules.
- A permitted link is still blocked: Check whether its site is on the whitelist and whether the individual viewer’s permit is active. Review Permit Duration if the exception may have expired.
- A word rule is too broad: Inspect the blacklist entry and its assigned action. If using a regular-expression entry, verify its pattern; Streamlabs identifies that option as an advanced setting.

Or let it run in the cloud
Cloudbot moderates chat; it does not keep a prerecorded video playing as a live stream. If you also want a YouTube channel to stay live from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video without a computer or home connection staying on. Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and UPI is available in India.
