Instead, check whether the completed stream archive is editable in YouTube Studio. If it has an End screen option, you can add a Subscribe element to the archive’s final seconds; YouTube does not confirm that every continuous-stream archive will offer this option.
Can you add an end screen to an active 24/7 stream?
YouTube’s documented end-screen process is for videos edited in YouTube Studio. An end screen appears at the end of a video; it is not a documented setting for placing a Subscribe prompt over a live broadcast while it is running.
For a continuous stream, the practical question is whether YouTube has a completed archive and whether that archive exposes the End screen control in its Studio Editor. YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee that every 24/7 stream archive is editable, nor does it explain how a continuous broadcast is divided into archives. Inspect your own archive before building a subscriber-growth plan around an end screen.
How to add a Subscribe end-screen element to an eligible archive
- Open the archive: In YouTube Studio, select Content and open the completed stream video.
- Check the Editor: Open Editor and look for End screen. If the control is available, choose it to add end-screen elements.
- Add Subscribe: Add a Subscribe element. You can pair it with a relevant video, a video selected by YouTube, your latest upload, or a public playlist, giving viewers a related next step as well as a way to subscribe.
- Set timing and placement: Put the elements in the video’s final portion. Leave enough time and space for them to be seen, and make the featured content relevant to the stream archive.
- Preview and save: Preview the ending, save your changes, then check the archive’s playback to confirm the end screen appears as intended.
If the archive has no End screen control, do not assume there is a hidden setting for 24/7 streams or a universal workaround. The documented workflow does not establish one.

Choose elements that fit the viewer’s next step
YouTube’s guidance is to feature elements relevant to the video, use calls to action, and leave enough space and time at the end. For a subscriber goal, include the Subscribe element; if you add another destination, make it a natural continuation of what the viewer just watched.

YouTube does not establish a universally best-performing combination. Choose based on the archive’s subject and whether the desired next action is a subscription or another view.

End-screen limits and when viewers may not see one
- The video must be at least 25 seconds long.
- End-screen elements appear during the final 5–20 seconds.
- A standard 16:9 video can have up to four elements; other aspect ratios may allow fewer.
- End screens are unavailable on videos set as Made for Kids.
- Viewers may not see end screens in contexts including mobile web (except iPad mobile web), YouTube Music or YouTube Kids apps, Flash videos, and 360 videos.
- Viewers can hide end screens, and YouTube may vary whether or how they appear based on performance, viewer behavior, device, and context.
Measure clicks without mistaking them for subscriptions
YouTube Studio’s Analytics Engagement report includes End screen element click rate. Google defines this as clicks on end-screen elements divided by impressions. It tells you how often viewers interact with elements when they are shown; it is not a subscriber-conversion rate.
Use the click rate to compare elements or destinations, then examine channel subscriptions separately to see whether subscription totals change. The metric alone does not show that an end screen caused a subscription increase, and YouTube’s documented guidance does not establish a particular subscriber-growth rate for end screens on 24/7 stream archives.

When you mean a live handoff, use the separate Live Redirect feature
An end screen belongs to the ending of a video. If you want to direct viewers from a live broadcast that is ending to a Premiere or another live stream, YouTube documents Live Redirect as a separate feature. The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Live Redirect is a handoff between live experiences, not an end-screen overlay for a broadcast that continues indefinitely.

End screens are configured in YouTube Studio for an eligible archive; they are separate from how a 24/7 broadcast is kept running.
