To run a prerecorded YouTube channel continuously with Castr, create a Pre-Recorded Stream, add and order your MP4 videos, select Loop, connect YouTube as a destination, turn that destination on, and start the stream. Playback runs from Castr’s cloud, so your computer does not need to stay on. Check your Castr plan for current looping, storage, playlist, and stream limits before setting up.
Before you start
- Prepare your videos. Castr’s upload guide specifies MP4 for the prerecorded-stream workflow. You can upload files from your computer or select recordings already in Castr’s video-hosting library. The number and size of files you can use depend on your subscription; see Castr’s setup guide.
- Check YouTube access. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Clear the rights. You are responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast all material, including music where applicable. Prerecording does not exempt a stream from YouTube’s rules; review YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
- Choose a format. A repeating video or short playlist calls for the prerecorded Loop workflow. If you need a timetable with different programs or live inserts, Castr describes a separate TV playout workflow.
How to create a repeating stream in Castr
- In the Castr dashboard, open Pre-Recorded Streams, choose New Pre-Recorded Stream, and name the stream.
- Add video by uploading an MP4 or selecting an existing Castr-hosted recording. Add more videos if your plan allows. Drag them into the order you want; the interface displays the playlist’s total duration.
- Select Loop for continuous playback. Castr’s scheduling guide calls this an enabled Infinite Loop; it starts the stream immediately and repeats the selected media. Do not choose Date & Time unless you want a one-time future start. If scheduling, check your device’s time zone because the scheduler uses it. Details are in Castr’s scheduling-mode guide.
- Add YouTube as a destination using the connection method offered in your dashboard. Make sure the YouTube destination toggle is on.
- Start the stream, then confirm that it is live on the YouTube channel. Castr sends the prerecorded playback as a standard live broadcast from its cloud.

Castr describes TV playout as a way to assemble schedules from recorded files and live sources, then route the channel through a Castr livestream. It is a distinct workflow from simply looping a playlist. Review Castr’s TV playout overview and prerecorded streaming details before choosing.
Check plan limits before committing
Castr’s current materials make several prerecorded-stream capabilities plan-dependent, including loop access, storage, file count and duration, playlist capacity, concurrent streams, and destinations. Its described prerecorded offering lists infinite loop on Premium and higher, while TV playout is presented as a separate product workflow. Packaging can change, so check your account’s current plan matrix or confirm with Castr rather than relying on a fixed limit quoted elsewhere.
What happens to the YouTube replay?
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete archive of a continuous channel. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. An always-on broadcast exceeds that window, so retain the original files or maintain a separate archive. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Copyright, reused content, and monetization
Getting a stream online is separate from being eligible for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams and reviews whether a channel’s work is original and authentic. Repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible, and reused-content review is distinct from whether the channel has copyright claims. YouTube says the channel’s overall theme and library may be considered; a 24/7 loop of owned or licensed material does not by itself guarantee approval. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
YouTube’s YPP overview lists headline eligibility thresholds of 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Other requirements apply, including regional availability and policy compliance, and some viewing categories do not count toward qualified watch hours. Common setup problems
- Loop option or a media limit is unavailable: check your current plan’s loop availability, storage, file-duration, playlist, and concurrent-stream limits.
- The stream does not appear live on YouTube: verify that YouTube is added as a destination, its toggle is on, and the YouTube channel is eligible to livestream.
- A scheduled start happens at the wrong time: check the time zone on the device used to set the schedule; Castr’s scheduler uses that time zone.
- The playlist will not upload: confirm the file is MP4 and that your subscription allows the file’s size, duration, and playlist position.
- The broadcast ends or the playlist does not behave as expected: confirm that you chose Loop, not the one-time Date & Time mode, and review any plan constraints that apply.
- No full YouTube replay appears: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube. Keep the original files or a separate archive.
