You can stream a playlist of Hindi videos to YouTube Live with FFmpeg by placing compatible local files in an FFmpeg concat list, then sending the encoded output to the event’s RTMPS ingest URL with its stream key. This guide assumes “playlist file” means FFmpeg’s plain-text concat format—not an M3U or M3U8 playlist. Hindi audio or subtitles do not require a special FFmpeg playlist mode.
What you need before you start
- FFmpeg installed with the H.264 video encoder used in the example (
libx264) and the FLV muxer. - Video files stored locally and accessible to FFmpeg.
- A YouTube Live event with its server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password; do not publish it or share it.
- A stable upload connection capable of sustaining the selected bitrate. YouTube recommends a speed test and a preflight test before going live.
The sample below re-encodes video as H.264 and audio as AAC. It is a structural template, not a guaranteed command for every FFmpeg build, file, shell, or event. Confirm that your installed FFmpeg has the requested encoder and check YouTube’s current settings for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate.
How do I make an FFmpeg concat playlist?
Create the list
Put the clips in a working directory and create a text file named playlist.txt alongside them:

file 'video-03.mp4'When using the ffconcat version 1.0 signature, it must be the very first line, with no leading spaces or byte-order mark. Use relative filenames where possible. Paths containing quotes, spaces, or special characters require correct FFmpeg escaping; check the concat demuxer documentation if a path is more complicated than the examples.

Check compatibility before relying on stream copy
The concat demuxer presents the listed files in sequence. For stream-copy concatenation, FFmpeg requires the inputs to have matching streams and compatible properties, including codecs and time bases. Files that differ in stream layout or encoding may fail or produce playback problems. Normalize or re-encode incompatible clips, or use FFmpeg’s concat filter for a workflow that needs re-encoding.
The demuxer adjusts timestamps so the first file starts at zero and later files follow it. Missing or inaccurate duration information can cause timestamp artifacts; an explicit duration directive may help when you know each duration reliably. The example command below re-encodes for YouTube, but re-encoding does not remove the need to check that the concat input can be read correctly.
How do I send the playlist to YouTube Live?
Copy the event’s ingest details
In YouTube Studio, open the event in Live Control Room and copy its server URL and stream key from the stream settings. Use the values for that specific event, not a key copied from another setup. YouTube explains that the key lets the encoder send a feed that YouTube can accept. Keep it private.

Run an RTMPS encoding template
Replace the quoted output at the end with the RTMPS address and stream key supplied for your event. Do not put a real key in a script or command that other people can see:

The video bitrate shown is an example only, not a universal YouTube setting. For example, YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists 10 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30. Choose a bitrate from the current YouTube table that matches your codec, resolution, and frame rate; do not copy that example value to a different format without checking.
-safe 0 relaxes the concat demuxer’s path checks and is included because it is often needed for paths that are not accepted by the default safe mode. Use it only with a playlist you trust. If you use safe relative paths in a suitable working directory, omit -safe 0 and let the default checks apply.

Match the output to YouTube’s guidance
YouTube’s general encoder recommendations call for RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), supported video codecs including H.264, H.265, and AV1, up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that must not exceed four seconds. For RTMP/RTMPS audio, YouTube lists AAC or MP3; stereo AAC at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps is within its published recommendations. The example uses H.264 and AAC.
Set resolution, frame rate, video bitrate, and keyframe interval as a coherent group. The template’s -g 60 and -keyint_min 60 correspond to two seconds at 30 fps; if you change the frame rate, adjust the GOP to preserve the intended interval. The template also sets a bitrate and buffer, but those example values are not a substitute for selecting a suitable CBR target from YouTube’s current guidance. Confirm the settings against the event and the installed FFmpeg encoder’s behavior.

Start the command before the scheduled broadcast, then check the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the picture and Hindi audio are present, that playback is stable, and that YouTube reports healthy stream status before relying on the feed. YouTube recommends testing with representative motion and audio and monitoring stream health during the event.

How do I keep the playlist playing?
A concat list is finite: FFmpeg reaches the end after the last file. FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option loops an input indefinitely, but that does not establish that wrapping it around a concat-demuxer input will reliably repeat every entry as a whole playlist.
If you need the entire list to repeat continuously, use a repeat strategy that explicitly regenerates or repeats the playlist, then test end-of-list behavior, timestamp continuity, and audio transitions before going live. The reviewed FFmpeg documentation does not establish a universal one-line command for repeating a whole concat list, so do not assume the sample command will provide 24/7 looping.

Concat demuxer versus concat filter

RTMP/RTMPS versus HLS ingest
RTMP/RTMPS is the path used in the example. YouTube documents HLS ingest for HDR or codecs not supported by RTMP; it is not a drop-in replacement for this command. HLS has higher latency than RTMP and requires a different package: segments must be 1–4 seconds, use TS format, and be delivered by HTTPS POST or PUT without byte ranges. Its rolling playlist can have no more than five outstanding segments. Choose HLS only when the codec or workflow calls for it, and follow YouTube’s HLS setup instructions.

Troubleshooting common failures
- FFmpeg rejects a filename or playlist path: check quotes and escaping, work from the directory containing the files, and prefer safe relative paths. If you deliberately need absolute or unusual paths,
-safe 0can allow them, but only for a playlist you trust. - The concat input fails or transitions break: inspect the files’ stream layouts, codecs, and time bases. Normalize or re-encode incompatible clips, or build a concat-filter workflow rather than assuming stream-copy concatenation will work.
- Audio or video drifts at a join: verify durations and timestamps, especially where source duration metadata is missing or inaccurate. Test every transition; use a reliable explicit duration only when you know it.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: recheck the event-specific server URL and stream key in Live Control Room, and ensure the output address is correctly quoted. Never reveal the key while asking for help.
- YouTube reports poor stream health: confirm that bitrate, codec, resolution, frame rate, and keyframe interval fit current YouTube guidance, then check whether your upload connection can sustain the selected rate. Run a representative preflight test and monitor Live Control Room.
- The stream stops at the last clip: the concat list has ended. It is not inherently an endless playlist; implement and test a whole-list repeat strategy if continuous playback is required.
- FFmpeg says an encoder or muxer is unavailable: verify that your installed build includes
libx264and the FLV muxer, or adjust the command to an encoder and output format supported by your build and YouTube’s ingest guidance.

Before streaming, confirm you have the rights and permissions needed for every video, music track, image, and other element in the playlist. A language label such as Hindi does not determine whether content is cleared for streaming. Review YouTube’s applicable live-streaming and content policies for your channel and material; encoding settings cannot grant content rights.
