You generally can’t sync an iTunes library directly to a Samsung Galaxy the way you sync an iPhone. For music files you can access, download or locate them on a computer, then copy them to the phone over USB. If the tracks are Apple Music subscription downloads, use the Apple Music app on Android instead; those downloads aren’t ordinary files to copy.
First, identify what kind of music you have

Apple distinguishes its music-management apps, iTunes Store purchases and Apple Music service. Its current Windows setup uses separate Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices apps; iTunes for Windows remains available for some legacy uses. Availability and app features vary by region. Before transferring
- Have the Apple Account used to buy the music handy. A computer may need authorization for that account to download purchases.
- Use a USB cable that supports data, not just charging, and make sure the Galaxy has enough free storage.
- Check that the tracks are accessible audio files and not protected or app-managed downloads. Samsung warns that DRM-protected purchased music may not work on Galaxy devices. See Samsung’s music-transfer guidance.
- Test a small album first. Keep a backup of playable purchase files on your computer; future redownload availability can change.
Download iTunes Store purchases on Windows
For a current Windows PC, start with Apple Music for Windows:
- Open Apple Music and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.
- If prompted, authorize the computer for that account.
- Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Purchased.
- Download the available songs or albums. Apple’s purchase-redownload instructions cover this process.
If the iTunes Store or purchase area is hidden, Apple’s Windows guide says to open the sidebar actions menu, choose Settings > General > Show, then enable iTunes Store. Menu labels can change, so consult Apple’s current guide to previous purchases if your screen differs.

Once downloaded, locate the actual audio files through the app’s library or file settings. Storage locations vary by app, settings and computer; don’t assume every Windows library uses the same folder. iTunes for Windows may still be relevant for older setups, but Apple Music is the current starting point for music purchases on supported Windows PCs.
Copy music from Windows to Samsung
- Connect the unlocked Galaxy to the PC with a data-capable USB cable.
- On the phone, open the USB notification and choose Transferring files (or the equivalent file-transfer option).
- In Windows File Explorer, select the Galaxy phone and open its internal storage.
- Open the Music folder, or create one if it isn’t there.
- Copy a few compatible tracks or an album folder into Music. After checking that they play, transfer the rest.
- Safely disconnect the phone, then open Samsung Music or another compatible player. If needed, allow it to scan or refresh its library.
File copying moves the audio, not Apple’s complete library database. Embedded artist, album and track-number information helps organize songs, but playlists, ratings and play counts may not carry over.

Copy music from a Mac
Samsung documents a Mac workflow using Android File Transfer: install and open the utility, connect the Galaxy, approve the prompt on the Mac, and tap Allow on the phone if asked to permit file access. Open the phone’s files, then drag compatible tracks into its Music folder. Check Samsung’s current instructions and confirm the utility works with your current macOS and Galaxy software. If it doesn’t recognize the phone, use a supported transfer method or an intermediate computer or cloud-storage route.

Connect the phone by USB, unlock it and select file transfer if prompted. Open the Chromebook’s Files app, select the phone, then drag compatible files into its Music folder. Samsung includes this route in its transfer instructions.

When Smart Switch helps—and when it doesn’t
Smart Switch is useful for broader device migration and may restore music files from a previous Smart Switch computer backup. Android’s migration guidance also lists audio files such as MP3 among data that can transfer through supported methods, though capabilities vary by device and transfer method. Google’s Android transfer guide describes those limits.
Smart Switch is not a universal iTunes-library converter or a DRM-removal tool. Use it for ordinary supported audio files or backed-up media, not to make protected Apple downloads playable on Android.

Purchases, DRM and Apple Music downloads
A song bought from the iTunes Store and a song downloaded for offline listening through an Apple Music subscription are not the same thing. A purchase may be downloadable as a media file, subject to Apple’s authorization and availability rules. A subscription download is managed by the Apple Music app; it isn’t a portable MP3 or AAC file to drag into the Galaxy’s Music folder.

Samsung specifically cautions that protected purchases may not work on a Galaxy. Apple’s media terms distinguish DRM-protected from DRM-free content and describe authorization rules. Don’t infer that a file is transferable just because it appears in a library, and don’t expect renaming an encrypted file to remove protection.

If a purchase won’t transfer or play:
- Check whether it is actually an Apple Music subscription download rather than an iTunes Store purchase.
- See whether Apple offers the purchase for redownload in a compatible form.
- For subscription music, use Apple Music on Android, if available for your region and account.
- If a legitimate purchase is missing or unavailable, check the account, purchase history and hidden purchases, then contact Apple Support. A title may no longer be offered or available in your country or region.
- Keep a backup of any downloaded, playable purchase.
Apple Music on Android is the simpler option if you subscribe and want cloud access or app-managed offline listening. Sign in with the same Apple Account. It is not a way to turn subscription downloads into ordinary files, and it may not suit someone who wants music stored independently in the Galaxy’s Music folder or doesn’t want a subscription.
Fix common transfer problems

| Windows doesn’t show the phone | Keep the Galaxy unlocked, accept any permission prompt, select file transfer, then reconnect. Try another cable or port; restart the phone and PC if needed. |
| Copied songs don’t appear | Put them in the conventional Music folder, refresh the player’s library or restart it, and check that the files aren’t empty cloud placeholders. |
| Songs appear but won’t play | Test a known DRM-free MP3 or AAC file. If that plays but the track doesn’t, protection or format compatibility may be the issue. Use an official Apple redownload or subscription route rather than renaming the file. |
| A purchase is missing | Confirm you’re using the right Apple Account, check purchase history and hidden purchases, and verify the item remains available in that store and region. Apple’s purchase-history guidance covers account and hidden-purchase checks. |
What happens to playlists and artwork?
Copying audio files doesn’t automatically reproduce Apple playlists, ratings or play counts. Album art and sorting depend on file metadata and the player. You can recreate playlists in an Android player, use Apple Music for cloud-based Apple playlists where supported, or investigate a playlist-migration service carefully; before granting one access, review its privacy practices, fees and account permissions. Keep the original Apple library as your reference.
Keep a lasting copy
For music you can play as ordinary files, retain a computer backup in addition to the copy on your phone. Redownload rights and catalog availability can vary by account, title and region, and may change. Apple’s media terms advise users to download and back up purchased content.
