You can run recorded Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam classes as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast by sending a prerecorded playlist through a live-stream encoder or cloud streaming service. First confirm the channel can go live, clear rights to every recording and embedded work, then configure, test, and monitor the feed. A normal YouTube upload or playlist does not automatically become a live stream.
Before you start: check channel eligibility
YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The minimum age for live streaming is 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable the feature well before your intended launch. Check YouTube’s live-stream setup instructions for current account requirements, which can change.
Choose how to send the recorded classes to YouTube
You need an encoder or service that sends a live feed to YouTube. YouTube describes encoders as software or hardware that convert video for streaming, and its encoder guidance also names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. That listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee that a particular product supports your desired playlist, schedule, or recovery setup. Check any service’s current features, operating requirements, pricing, and availability directly.
Software encoder on a computer
A software encoder can give you direct control over the prerecorded playlist and output settings. The computer and encoder need to remain running and connected for the broadcast to continue. Plan who will monitor the feed, how you will respond to a failure, and whether your local internet connection can sustain the stream.

Hardware encoder
YouTube supports hardware encoders as well as software. Confirm that the selected device can play or receive the prerecorded material in the way your workflow requires, and that you know how to configure its stream destination, key, and output settings. The encoder category alone does not establish that a device can loop or schedule your particular class files.
Cloud service
A cloud service can keep the stream running without requiring an attended computer at home. Compare whether it can loop or schedule the files you need, how it handles failures and alerts, what monitoring and metadata controls it provides, and its current cost and territorial availability. YouTube’s encoder page lists Gyre as one such 24/7 prerecorded-streaming tool; the listing does not establish a complete comparison among services.

Configure, test, and start the broadcast
- Prepare the playlist. Organize the SSC lessons in the intended order and decide whether they should loop or follow a schedule. Check that each file plays correctly and that the audio is intelligible. YouTube does not turn an uploaded video or channel playlist into a live feed by itself.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Studio. Set up the broadcast in Live Control Room, then select the encoder workflow. Use YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance for the exact current interface and settings.
- Protect the stream key. YouTube describes the key as both a password and an address that tells the encoder where to send its feed. Share it only with channel administrators who need it. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement.
- Choose output settings for your material and connection. Set resolution and bitrate using YouTube’s current recommended encoder settings and the capabilities of your encoder and connection. There is no one bitrate appropriate for every class stream. YouTube recommends RTMPS as a secure ingestion protocol.
- Allow upload headroom. YouTube recommends roughly 20% bandwidth headroom for the stream. If you send primary and backup feeds, account for the combined upload demand. A wired connection can be a practical choice, but YouTube does not mandate a particular cable category.
- Preview before going live. Test the actual lesson files, including their sound and motion, and check the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the correct playlist is playing and that the audio and video are present before announcing the broadcast.
- Monitor while it runs. Check stream health and listen or watch periodically rather than assuming the feed remains healthy. YouTube warns, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” Backup internet or encoder failover may be part of an operator’s plan, but neither guarantees uninterrupted service; test any backup arrangement before relying on it.
Clear rights to every class and embedded element
Before rebroadcasting a lesson, establish that your channel has permission for the recording, the instructor’s performance, slides or scans, music, and any third-party clips or other included material. YouTube’s live-stream terms say providers represent that they have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content on Google services and must meet applicable requirements in the territories where the stream is available. Educational purpose alone does not establish permission; the answer depends on the recordings, agreements, included works, territories, and applicable law.
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. A match can result in a placeholder and a warning to stop streaming the content; if it continues, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. Even when a class is licensed, the rights owner may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived live streams can also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast.

Set viewer expectations and make classes easier to find
Tell viewers whether the stream loops or follows a schedule, how to locate a specific topic in the class archive, and where to report playback problems. These are practical channel choices rather than a platform-prescribed schedule. A clear title and description can explain the exam subject, lesson sequence, and whether viewers are joining a continuous loop or a scheduled class block.
Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start the stream: Verify the channel, check for a restriction within the previous 90 days, and confirm live streaming has been enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The encoder will not connect: Check that the stream key and destination match the current YouTube setup, and that the key has not been reset. If it may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- The stream buffers or drops: Check upload capacity, allow the recommended headroom, and inspect the encoder and Live Control Room health indicators. Network disruption can break the feed; a backup connection is an option to plan and test, not a guarantee.
- Viewers hear no sound or see the wrong material: Preview the actual class playlist and check the audio and picture before going live. Confirm the encoder is sending the intended source and that the playlist order is correct.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast over a rights match: Stop or replace the disputed material and resolve the rights issue. If you have a license, contact the rights owner about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license does not automatically prevent an automated interruption.
- A claim appears after the live ends: Review the archived stream and the claim details. YouTube notes that Content ID claims may be applied to archived live streams after broadcast.
