To keep a real estate walkthrough live on YouTube around the clock, first choose between a live camera feed from the property and a loop of prerecorded walkthrough footage. For a camera feed, YouTube’s documented route is an encoder connected to a verified, live-enabled channel. For an uploaded-video loop, a cloud service can keep prerecorded footage playing without leaving a computer running at home. These are different workflows: a prerecorded loop is not a live camera view.
Choose the right continuous-stream setup
| What viewers should see | Approach | What it requires |
|---|---|---|
| The property as a live camera sees it now | Use a camera and streaming encoder connected to YouTube. | A camera, encoder (software or standalone hardware), stable mounting where needed, reliable upload bandwidth, and dependable power and network access. |
| Previously recorded property tours playing as a live stream | Loop uploaded walkthrough videos with a cloud-based service or another compatible workflow. | Footage you have rights to use and a way to keep the stream running. YouTube’s encoder guide lists Gyre as a cloud option for prerecorded 24/7 streams; YouTube says listed products are not made by YouTube. |
For a fixed live-camera installation, a supported network camera or standalone encoder may reduce the number of separate devices. A computer running encoder software can offer more control over sources and overlays. Those are practical trade-offs, not measured performance comparisons; check compatibility and current service terms before choosing equipment or a service. YouTube’s encoder guide describes encoder streaming and these categories.
Set up a live camera walkthrough with YouTube and an encoder
- Enable live streaming. Verify the YouTube channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before the scheduled property tour. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility instructions explain the channel requirements.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow and create or schedule a stream. Use the resulting stream details to connect your encoder; confirm the watch page and intended audience settings before sharing it.
- Connect the encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder’s YouTube connection settings. The key acts like a password, so do not show it on screen, include it in a public document, or share it with people who should not control the stream. If exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. See YouTube’s encoder settings guide.
- Configure the video and audio. Choose a resolution and bitrate your encoder and connection can sustain, and use the encoder’s recommended settings for the selected YouTube workflow. Avoid choosing a bitrate based on download speed: the relevant measure is actual outbound upload capacity. The sources for this guide establish YouTube’s network headroom guidance, but do not provide a single bitrate suitable for every camera, resolution, frame rate, or encoder.
- Check the preview, then go live. Send the encoder feed and wait for the Live Control Room preview. Check framing, focus, audio, and that the intended property is visible before starting the public stream. Confirm that the watch page opens as expected.
- Plan the unattended operation. For an extended feed, account for power, heat, network outages, storage, and who or what will notice a failure. Keep an independent local recording if the walkthrough needs to be preserved. YouTube does not prescribe a particular uptime design in the cited guidance.
Keep upload bandwidth and monitoring in the plan
- Measure available outbound upload capacity at the actual streaming location and time. YouTube recommends keeping stream bitrate below available upload bandwidth with 20% headroom, and emphasizes network reliability. That 20% is YouTube Help guidance, not an independent performance benchmark. Review YouTube’s network and encoder guidance.
- Test the complete path before relying on a continuous broadcast: camera, encoder, internet connection, Live Control Room preview, and public watch page.
- Monitor the live image and audio, encoder status, network connection, power, and any local recording. A long-running property feed can fail because any one of these parts fails.
- For a camera that must run without an operator present, plan for safe mounting, access control, and a way to respond to a dropped connection or power interruption. The official guidance establishes the need for reliable connectivity and testing; it does not guarantee a particular setup will run continuously.
Account for YouTube’s replay limit on long streams
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream lasting longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on a single 24/7 broadcast as the only copy of a walkthrough. Keep a local recording or plan shorter sessions, then verify that each archive is available. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.
Clear rights and permissions before filming in India
- Use original footage or secure the necessary rights for music, logos, and any other material included in the live stream. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have rights for worldwide use and to comply with applicable laws and territory-specific regulatory requirements. Read YouTube’s terms.
- India’s Copyright Act protects cinematograph films and sound recordings and defines communication to the public broadly. Statutory exceptions are limited; they are not blanket permission to put third-party songs or footage into a property tour. Consult the Indian Copyright Office and obtain legal advice if a rights question is material.
- Arrange access and filming permission for the specific property, and consider residents’ and visitors’ privacy before recording or broadcasting. The cited sources do not settle consent obligations for every location or situation.
- If the walkthrough includes drone footage, India’s Drone Rules apply to unmanned aircraft operated in or over India. Check requirements for the particular location and flight; the general rule source does not establish airspace permission for a specific property. Check the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s rules.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want prerecorded walkthroughs to play continuously rather than a live camera view, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos as a YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.

Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start the stream: Confirm the channel has been verified and live streaming enabled; first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The encoder does not connect: Check that the stream URL and key are entered correctly, that the key is current, and that the encoder is sending to YouTube. Regenerate an exposed key and replace it in the encoder.
- The preview is unstable or drops: Check actual upload capacity and network reliability, then lower the stream bitrate if it is too close to available bandwidth. Preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
- The watch page has no usable picture or sound: Check the encoder’s selected source, camera framing, audio input, and Live Control Room preview before publishing.
- A long stream has no complete replay: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. Keep a local copy or use shorter planned sessions and confirm each archive after the stream ends.
- The stream stops while unattended: Check power, heat, internet interruptions, encoder state, and any recovery process. Test the whole setup and arrange monitoring; no general design can guarantee uninterrupted operation.
