For the 2026 U.S. men’s NCAA Division I tournament, the games were split across CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV. To stream the full network lineup, viewers could use a live-TV service that carried all four channels in their ZIP code, or combine Paramount+ Premium for CBS games with HBO Max for TBS, TNT, and truTV games. The 2026 tournament has ended; check the next tournament’s schedule, rights, plans, and prices before subscribing.
What “March Madness” means here
This guide covers the U.S. men’s NCAA Division I basketball tournament. Its rounds run from Selection Sunday and the First Four through the first and second rounds, Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four, and national championship game. Selection Sunday is when the bracket is announced; it is not itself a set of tournament games. Live games, replays, highlights, bracket coverage, studio shows, and alternate feeds may have different availability, so check the listing for the specific program you want.
The 2026 men’s First Four was scheduled for March 17 and 18, and the tournament’s games were distributed across CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV. The tournament is over, and the next year’s distribution should not be assumed to be identical. See the NCAA’s 2026 schedule and network information.

Paramount+ identified Premium as the route for live CBS games in its March Madness viewing information. HBO Max listed the non-CBS games in its support information. These are separate parts of the network split: neither app alone covered all four networks.

Choose a setup for the games you want
Every men’s tournament game, with one service
Choose a live-TV streaming bundle only after confirming that it carries CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV in your ZIP code. YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and DIRECTV STREAM were identified as options carrying the four-network lineup, subject to local CBS availability and current plan details. Check the provider’s lineup and checkout page before subscribing: a national channel list does not guarantee that your local CBS affiliate is included. DIRECTV describes its tournament channel availability on its college-basketball page; an independent channel comparison is available from Sports Media Watch.
A bundle is convenient for channel surfing and using one guide, but it can cost more than subscribing directly to the services for the tournament. YouTube TV advertised multiview, unlimited DVR, three simultaneous streams, and six household accounts when checked in August 2026; these are service features, not a promise that every device or tournament feed supports every feature. Its advertised prices and trial offers change, so check YouTube TV’s current offer rather than relying on an old promotion.
Every network, using two direct-streaming subscriptions
For the 2026 split, Paramount+ Premium plus HBO Max was the targeted two-service setup: Paramount+ Premium for CBS games and HBO Max for TBS, TNT, and truTV games. It avoids buying a full live-TV bundle, but requires two subscriptions and switching apps. Before a future tournament, confirm that the named tiers still include the relevant live sports and that their device support works for your TV.

Paramount+ Premium was the direct route to CBS-presented 2026 games. It did not substitute for TBS, TNT, or truTV access. The Paramount+ March Madness page gives the service’s tournament details.

Only TBS, TNT, or truTV games
HBO Max was the direct route for the 2026 games presented on those three networks. It did not provide the CBS portion of the tournament. Confirm the current HBO Max plan and any sports-content requirements before paying.
You already receive local CBS with an antenna
An antenna may let you watch your local CBS affiliate over the air without a streaming subscription, if reception is reliable where you live. Pairing that reception with HBO Max was one way to cover the four-network split in 2026. An antenna cannot receive TBS, TNT, or truTV. Check local CBS availability and reception for your address before relying on this setup.
Considering Sling TV
Sling may provide TBS, TNT, and truTV through an eligible plan, but do not assume it supplies every game. CBS availability depends on the local market and the particular plan; you need a confirmed CBS route as well. Sling’s March Madness guide describes its tournament offering. Check the channel lineup for your ZIP code and the exact plan before subscribing.
You want only a late-round game or a short subscription
First check which network carries the game you intend to watch. A single app may be enough for one CBS game or one Turner-network game, while following every game requires access to the full network split. Compare the cost of the services for the time you need them with a one-month live-TV plan. Include taxes, promotional expiration dates, trial eligibility, add-ons, and automatic renewal in the comparison; a temporary offer is not the regular recurring price.

How to use NCAA March Madness Live
- Open the official NCAA March Madness Live page or install the official app on a supported device.
- Select the men’s tournament, then use the schedule or bracket to find the game and its network.
- If prompted, sign in with a participating TV-provider account or follow the displayed sign-in route for an eligible streaming subscription.
- Test playback on the TV, phone, tablet, or browser you plan to use before the next game begins.
March Madness Live is the NCAA’s tournament hub, not a guaranteed way around network authentication. The NCAA says the men’s tournament is available through the platform, but access methods and authentication rules should be checked for the relevant year.
Watch on a TV, phone, tablet, or computer
Use the official app for your streaming service on a smart TV, streaming device, or console when that app is supported. Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV/Android TV, Chromecast, and game consoles may support relevant apps, but compatibility depends on the service and device model. Check the current app-store listing or provider support page, install the app, and sign in before game day.
For a phone, tablet, or computer, use the provider’s official app or website and sign in with the account that holds the subscription or TV-provider access. A browser is a useful fallback when an older TV’s app is unsupported. You can also cast from a supported phone or browser, or connect a laptop to a TV by HDMI if the streaming service permits playback that way. When games switch networks, switch to the app or channel carrying the next game.

Live video over cellular can use substantial data, and busy household Wi-Fi can buffer during overlapping games. If possible, test the connection in advance and use a stable Wi-Fi or wired connection for the TV.

Watch more than one game at once
Depending on the service, device, plan, and available feeds, you may be able to use multiview, separate devices, picture-in-picture, or a TV’s split-screen mode. YouTube TV advertised multiview for up to four games when checked in August 2026, but availability is not guaranteed for every device or game combination. For separate streams, check the account’s simultaneous-stream limit. Pick one primary game for audio and mute the others; network capacity can also limit smooth playback.
Watch while traveling
Streaming services can limit live viewing by country, market, or account home location. Local CBS availability may differ from the one at home, and live-TV providers may apply home-location rules. YouTube TV states that its live TV service is available in the U.S. where it operates, that local-network access varies by location, and that international viewing is unsupported; check its current service information. Availability outside the U.S. depends on that country’s rights and services. Do not rely on a VPN as a routine workaround: it may conflict with a service’s terms or trigger location checks. Install the apps and confirm your account’s access before leaving home.

- Over-the-air CBS: A suitable antenna may receive a local CBS broadcast without a streaming subscription, depending on location and reception. It does not include TBS, TNT, or truTV.
- Free clips and highlights: Highlights or other selected content may be available without a live-game subscription, but that does not mean the full live tournament is free.
- Free trials and promotions: Eligibility, duration, payment requirements, renewal price, and cancellation rules vary. Record the renewal date and confirm cancellation in the account or by email if you do not want to continue. Deleting an app does not cancel a subscription.
- Unofficial streams: Avoid pirate streams. They are not an authorized substitute and may be unstable or unsafe.
Check these details before you pay
- Does the plan include the viewer’s local CBS affiliate in their ZIP code?
- Does it carry TBS, TNT, and truTV, not just one or two of them?
- Is the specific game live on the channel, rather than available only as a replay or on-demand program?
- Does the app require a particular subscription tier, sports add-on, or TV-provider login?
- What is the recurring monthly or annual price after any promotion, and do taxes or fees apply?
- Is a free trial available to this account, and when does it renew?
- Are simultaneous streams sufficient, and does the service support the device you will watch on?
The women’s tournament has a different distribution map
Do not assume the men’s CBS, TBS, TNT, and truTV lineup applies to women’s March Madness. The women’s tournament has separate network rights and streaming availability. Verify its distribution for the specific tournament year before choosing a service.
Fix common streaming problems
The game is missing
Check the NCAA schedule for the game’s network first. Confirm that your plan includes that network and, for CBS, that the local affiliate is available in your market. A service that carries the other three channels will still miss games assigned to the absent network.

The app says you are not entitled to watch
Confirm the subscription tier and account, then sign out and back in. If access uses a TV-provider login, use the credentials for that provider. Try the service’s website in a browser; if the app still fails, update or reinstall it.
The picture is black, buffering, or low quality
Test the connection, pause large downloads or cloud backups, and close unused streams. For a TV, try Ethernet or stronger Wi-Fi; if the service offers a video-quality setting, lower it temporarily. Update the app or browser and switch to a second supported device as a fallback. Live picture quality varies by service, device, network, and source feed.
The stream fails on a trip or another household device
Check the provider’s location rules and simultaneous-stream limit. Restart the streaming device and router if playback fails across apps, then test the provider in a browser or on another supported device. If the provider still blocks access, contact its support team before the next game rather than waiting until tipoff.
