Yes. You can use a Raspberry Pi as an encoder to send prerecorded podcast audio to YouTube Live with a still image or looping visual. The basic workflow is to check the archive and rebroadcast rights, prepare the visual, run FFmpeg at real-time speed, and connect it to the stream URL and key for a stream created in YouTube Studio. Exact FFmpeg settings depend on your Pi, operating system, FFmpeg build, and files; the example below is a starting point to adapt, not a tested command.

Before you stream: check the archive and permissions

Make a list of the episodes and confirm they play in the intended order. Decide whether you are streaming one episode, a sequence of separate files, or a prepared single audio file. Choose a still image or looping video for the visual track; for an Indian-language archive, that might be an episode card with the title written in the language used by the program.

Confirm that you have permission to rebroadcast each recording and all material accompanying it. Rights may apply separately to the episode, music, cover art, and guest contributions. The fact that you possess an archive does not establish permission to stream it publicly.

Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility before the planned broadcast. YouTube Help says first-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to enable. Its encoder setup and scheduling guidance is at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Prepare the Raspberry Pi and FFmpeg workflow

FFmpeg can read supported audio and video inputs, select streams, and send an encoded output. Its documentation describes -re as reading input at its native rate, which is useful when sending media in real time, and -stream_loop for repeating an input. See the FFmpeg documentation for options supported by your installed build.

  1. Check compatibility. Identify the Pi model and operating system, install or verify an FFmpeg build that can read your archive’s formats, and make sure the Pi has reliable network access and enough storage for any prepared media. Requirements vary by media format and encoding workload; the sources do not establish a model-by-model performance recommendation.
  2. Decide how to feed the audio. For a single episode, use that file as the audio input. For an archive, either prepare a single correctly ordered file or configure a playlist/input sequence that FFmpeg can read. Test the sequence locally first for gaps, wrong ordering, clipped starts, or unexpected silence.
  3. Choose the video input. Use a still image or a looping video as the visual stream. Confirm that its dimensions and format work with your FFmpeg build and match the video settings selected for the YouTube stream.
  4. Plan real-time output. Apply real-time input pacing where appropriate, and configure audio/video encoding and output mapping to suit the files and Pi. FFmpeg’s options and the right encoding settings depend on the installed version and inputs; no complete Raspberry Pi command has been tested here, so do not copy a generic command without checking it against your setup.
  5. Test before the scheduled broadcast. Run a short private or otherwise appropriate test stream, listen to the audio, inspect the visual, and confirm the Pi can sustain the output without dropping its network connection.

An independent project documents a Raspberry Pi 4 YouTube publishing setup, which demonstrates a use case rather than proving that every Pi 4 configuration—or any other board—will handle every archive and quality. See the project documentation. Raspberry Pi also describes a separate live-streaming project at YouTube live-streaming made easy; neither source supplies a tested FFmpeg command for this prerecorded-audio workflow.

Create the YouTube Live stream and connect the encoder

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Follow the current prompts and settings for the stream you intend to broadcast.
  2. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that specific stream. Enter them as the destination details in your FFmpeg output configuration. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or reuse an old key or endpoint from a tutorial.
  3. Start FFmpeg on the Pi. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview, then check that the audio and visual are correct before using the control to go live.
  4. If your encoder supports RTMPS, use the endpoint and configuration provided for the stream. Google describes RTMPS as RTMP over an SSL connection and specifies port 443; consult its RTMPS ingestion guide rather than assuming an endpoint from an old setup.

Plan the broadcast length and archive

YouTube Help states: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” Keep the under-12-hour condition attached to that guidance; do not rely on it as a promise of automatic archiving for a longer broadcast. If the stream needs to remain available afterward, check its status in YouTube Studio and make a separate recording where appropriate. YouTube’s help page also covers scheduling and notes that monetization depends on participation in the YouTube Partner Program.

Troubleshoot common failures

  • No preview appears: Check that FFmpeg is running, that the stream URL and key match the current YouTube stream, and that the encoder output is reaching YouTube. Review the current endpoint and RTMPS configuration if using secure ingest.
  • Preview appears, but audio is missing or wrong: Verify that FFmpeg selected the intended audio stream and that the archive plays correctly. Check the file sequence for silent or damaged segments.
  • The still image or video is absent: Confirm the visual input is being read and mapped into the output, and that its format and dimensions are accepted by your FFmpeg build and stream configuration.
  • Playback stutters or stops: Check the Pi’s processing load, network stability, and whether the chosen encoding workload is sustainable. Reduce the workload or simplify the visual and encoding configuration, then test again before going live.
  • You cannot start a first live stream: Confirm that live streaming has been enabled for the channel and allow for YouTube’s stated first-time enablement period, which may be up to 24 hours.
  • The stream ends but no archive is available: Check whether it was under 12 hours and review the stream in YouTube Studio; the cited automatic-archive guidance does not cover longer streams.
