You can run a 24/7 Indian lo-fi music livestream with OBS Studio by clearing the music rights first, enabling YouTube livestreaming, configuring OBS as an encoder, and keeping the computer, playback, and internet connection running continuously. OBS only sends the stream; it does not grant music rights or guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Music you have the necessary rights to broadcast continuously on YouTube, including any planned monetization and retained or archived version.
- A computer that can play your audio and visuals while running OBS, plus a stable internet connection with sufficient sustained upload capacity.
- A stream event in YouTube Live Control Room and its private stream key.
YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for holding worldwide exploitation rights, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. See YouTube’s livestream terms.
Can I play lo-fi beats on a YouTube livestream?
Yes, if your rights cover the exact use. “Royalty-free,” “free to use,” giving credit, or buying a track does not by itself establish permission for a continuous YouTube livestream. Check the terms for every track and confirm that they cover live broadcasting, the territories where the stream will be available, monetization if planned, and any archived or on-demand copy you intend to keep.
Keep written licenses and track-level records. Also ask the rights holder whether it can add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the picture with a placeholder, and unresolved content can interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube advises licensed streamers to ask the content owner to add their channel to the allowlist through Content ID. A license alone may therefore not prevent an interruption. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

How do I stream music 24/7 on YouTube with OBS?
1. Verify the channel and enable livestreaming
- Complete YouTube channel verification and check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- If this is the first livestream, enable it in YouTube and allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule an encoder stream. Set the title, visibility, and other event details.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the event. Keep the key private: it is the credential OBS uses to send your feed.
2. Set up OBS as the encoder
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if it is available, then connect as prompted. Alternatively, choose the custom server option and enter the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room.
- Prepare the scene you want viewers to see. For a music stream, check that the audio source is playing and that any visual element is intentional; confirm the correct audio source is reaching the stream mix.
- Open Settings → Output and configure the encoder. For a common 1080p30 H.264 stream, YouTube lists 10 Mbps as its recommended video bitrate, CBR rate control, a two-second keyframe interval, AAC audio, and 128 Kbps stereo audio. Treat these as a starting point, not a universal preset.
- In Settings → Video, choose the output resolution and frame rate you can sustain. If you choose a different resolution or frame rate, use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the applicable format and test the actual scene and audio.
- Where supported, use RTMPS for the encrypted connection. YouTube lists H.264, HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS. OBS also supports HLS output, but HLS has different ingestion requirements and higher latency; use it for a relevant codec or HDR workflow rather than choosing it by default.
YouTube’s current recommendations are in its encoder settings guide. Its networking guidance says to leave about 20% of upload capacity available beyond the stream bitrate. Run a speed test and test with representative visuals and audio before committing to a continuous broadcast; a brief speed-test result does not prove the connection can sustain the stream indefinitely.
3. Start the stream and verify the feed
- Start streaming in OBS. Wait for the feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview.
- Check the preview and the watch page for picture, audio level, sync, and the intended visibility before going live in YouTube.
- Once the preview is correct, start the event in Live Control Room if YouTube has not started it automatically.
- Monitor the stream after launch. YouTube advises checking audio and video quality continuously, confirming that the watch page is accessible, and testing failover if you use a backup encoder.
What does 24/7 operation require?
With OBS running locally, the computer must remain powered on and awake, OBS must remain open, the audio and visual sources must keep working, and the internet connection must stay available. Plan for power or connectivity loss, a playback source stopping, encoder failure, and copyright claims. Keep an eye on the Live Control Room rather than assuming that a stream which started successfully will remain healthy.

YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance and checking local archive files. Its encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not promise a complete archive for one 24-hour stream. If you need a recording, verify current YouTube behavior and keep an independent local recording strategy. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer and connection to run continuously, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos in the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video, not a camera feed. The service supports the video as uploaded up to 4K 60fps, with one flat price per slot and no re-encode or quality tiers; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.

Troubleshooting a 24/7 music livestream
- Livestreaming is not available: confirm verification and check for a restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- OBS connects but YouTube shows no feed: check that the stream key and server URL match the event in Live Control Room, then restart the encoder and wait for the preview.
- The stream buffers or drops: check sustained upload capacity, leave the recommended upload headroom, and test at a lower bitrate or output setting that your connection can maintain.
- The picture is replaced or the stream is interrupted: check Live Control Room for a third-party content match. Confirm your license covers livestream use and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting.
- The audio or visuals stop during the broadcast: check that the playback source, OBS scene, computer power settings, and network connection are still active. A 24/7 setup needs monitoring and a recovery plan.
- No complete 24-hour archive appears: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a single 24-hour stream. Use an independent recording plan if the full program must be retained.
