What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
First find where the drift begins: in the original video file, in OBS or another local encoder, or only in YouTube playback. Then determine whether audio and video start out misaligned or the gap grows over time. A fixed offset may call for a different investigation than accumulating drift; adding a constant audio delay is not a proven cure for a gap that keeps growing.
Find where the sync problem starts
Compare the same moment in three places: the source video file, the OBS preview or a local recording of the encoded output, and the YouTube stream. Use a moment with a clear visual cue and matching sound, such as a spoken word or an impact.
- Check the source file. Play it locally and see whether the sound matches the picture near the beginning and later in the video. If the mismatch is already there, the loop or stream encoder may not be introducing it.
- Check OBS or the encoder output. Compare the preview and, if available, a local recording with the source. If the source is in sync but the local output drifts, focus on the encoding and playback path.
- Check YouTube playback. Compare the live stream with the local output. If only YouTube is out of sync, inspect stream health and the connection between encoder and YouTube.
Write down whether the mismatch is present at startup or grows as the stream runs. That distinction matters: a fixed offset and accumulating drift are different symptoms.
Check OBS and the connection before changing sync offsets
Watch OBS’s dropped-frames counter and connection indicator while the stream runs. OBS says that an increasing “Dropped frames” counter alongside a yellow or red connection square means the connection to the server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate (OBS Help Portal). Address that connection or bitrate problem before trying to compensate with an audio offset.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
OBS also provides a stream buffering troubleshooting guide. Buffering or connection instability is a separate issue from proving that a fixed audio delay will correct gradual sync drift.
Read YouTube’s stream-health messages
Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room and check the Health Indicator and its associated messages. YouTube describes red errors as critical and yellow errors as moderate. Review any message about audio or video format, sample rate, channel count, frame rate, keyframes, or bitrate rather than treating every sync symptom as an audio-delay problem. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages.

Verify encoder settings and test the actual loop
Compare your encoder settings with YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed 4 seconds. These are ingest recommendations, not a guarantee against gradual clock drift.

YouTube also advises testing before going live with audio and video movement similar to the intended stream, then monitoring stream health. For a loop stream, test the same file and encoding path that you plan to run live. Let the test run long enough to see whether it reproduces the issue; that duration is a practical troubleshooting choice, not a published YouTube requirement.
If you use primary and backup streams
When configuring YouTube failover, make the primary and backup feeds match. YouTube lists sample rate, channels, codecs, frame rate, resolution, bitrate, and keyframe frequency among the settings that need to match. A mismatch can complicate failover diagnosis; check YouTube’s error guidance for the applicable message.

What not to assume
- A fixed offset will cure growing drift. The reviewed official guidance does not establish a universal OBS timestamp, audio-clock correction, or delay setting for gradual desynchronization in a prerecorded loop.
- The encoder is necessarily at fault. Drift may be present in the file, appear in local output, or emerge only in YouTube playback. Isolate the stage first.
- A particular hardware purchase is the answer. Without knowing the signal path, recommending a synchronizer, interface, mixer, capture card, or dedicated encoder would be speculative.
OBS is free and open source, according to the OBS Project Help Portal; there is no need to buy OBS to troubleshoot this.

| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| The source file is already out of sync. | Confirm the mismatch at the beginning and later in local playback. The problem is present before OBS or YouTube ingest. |
| The source is in sync, but OBS preview or local output drifts. | Focus diagnosis on the local playback and encoding path; the reviewed official sources do not identify one universal setting that fixes accumulating drift. |
| Local output is in sync, but YouTube playback drifts. | Check YouTube Live Control Room health messages and OBS’s dropped-frames counter and connection indicator. |
| OBS dropped frames increase and the connection square is yellow or red. | Investigate connection stability and configured bitrate before changing sync offsets, following OBS’s connection guidance. |
| YouTube reports an audio, video, keyframe, frame-rate, or bitrate error. | Correct the setting identified by the Live Control Room message and compare encoder settings with YouTube’s recommendations. |
| The stream starts aligned but the mismatch grows. | Record whether the growth occurs in the source, local output, or YouTube playback. A constant offset alone is not established as a fix for this accumulating symptom. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you have isolated the sync issue and want the loop to continue without keeping a home computer online, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos as a YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The computer at home does not have to stay on. StreamNeo plays uploads rather than broadcasting a camera feed.
