Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →In OBS, play the playlist with a VLC Video source, then place a Text source above it and set the text source to read a title from a file. Update that file when the playlist changes, or use a separate metadata process that you have tested. OBS documents the playlist and file-backed text building blocks, but not a universal automatic connection that fills in the current playlist item’s title.
Build the playlist scene in OBS
- Install VLC. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC. Match the installation to OBS: if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. Add a VLC Video source to the scene and load the media items in playback order; enable looping if you want the playlist to repeat. OBS: Media Sources
- Add the title text. Add a Text source and move it above the VLC Video source in the Sources list so the title is composited over the video. Enable “Read from file” and select a text file containing the title you want displayed. OBS: Sources Guide
- Position and style it. Resize and position the text in the scene preview so it remains readable without covering important documentary footage or subtitles. For a designed card, add an image source for a background or artwork; a Browser source can display a web-based overlay. Check the final composition at the output resolution, not just while the preview is scaled down.
Choose how the title changes
Manual updates
For a simple playlist, edit the text file when you switch to the next item. Confirm that the OBS text changes as expected before relying on it live. This keeps the displayed title under your control, but requires an operator to make each update.
External metadata automation
If you want titles to change automatically, use a separate metadata process compatible with your playback setup to update the text file. Test it through several playlist changes, including skipped or failed items, and confirm that the displayed title matches the video actually playing. The OBS documentation describes reading text from a file, but does not establish that VLC playlist metadata automatically populates an OBS Text source.
Set YouTube’s 4K60 stream settings
Configure OBS as the encoder for the stream created or selected in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s current guidance, accessed in 2026, specifies these bitrate figures for 2160p at 60 fps. They are platform recommendations and minimums, not a guarantee that a particular computer or network can sustain a stable stream. YouTube: Live encoder settings

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Video codec | Minimum bitrate at 2160p60 | Recommended bitrate at 2160p60 |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265 (HEVC) | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
- YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS.
- Use CBR encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds.
- YouTube’s listed live video codecs include H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1, with frame rates up to 60 fps.
- Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain continuously. A speed test alone does not establish that the full OBS scene will remain stable; test the actual playlist, overlay, and audio together.
At 4K, YouTube does not offer the low-latency optimization option; 4K live streams use normal latency. YouTube: Change live stream settings
Test the complete broadcast before going live
- Play through enough of the playlist to verify ordering, looping, and audio levels.
- Change the title file and confirm the on-screen card updates promptly and remains legible over different footage.
- If using an automated metadata process or browser overlay, test successive track changes and confirm the title remains synchronized with playback.
- Check OBS and YouTube’s stream-health indicators while the stream runs at the intended 4K60 settings; fix dropped frames or connection warnings before the real broadcast.
Common problems and fixes
- The VLC Video source is missing or will not play media: Install VLC, making sure its architecture matches OBS; 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC. Reopen OBS after installation if the source is still unavailable.
- The title appears behind the video or not at all: Move the Text source above the VLC Video source in the Sources list, check that the source is visible, and verify its file path and “Read from file” setting.
- The title stays on the previous playlist item: A file-backed Text source displays file contents; it does not, by itself, guarantee automatic playlist metadata updates. Update the file manually or inspect and test the separate process intended to write it.
- The stream buffers or reports connection trouble at 4K60: Check whether the upload connection can sustain the chosen codec’s bitrate, then test again with the complete scene. If using H.264, YouTube’s recommended 2160p60 bitrate is higher than its AV1/H.265 recommendation.
- You expect low latency at 4K: YouTube’s low-latency optimization is unavailable for 4K live streams; normal latency applies.
Keep a playlist live without leaving a computer on
For a do-it-yourself OBS setup, the computer running the encoder and the connection it uses must remain available for the stream. If you want a YouTube playlist to keep running from the cloud instead, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed.
