Before you begin, verify that live streaming is enabled for your channel, confirm you have the rights to every element in the feed, and test the encoder and internet connection. YouTube does not provide a Reiki-specific setup or guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 uptime.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. The channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
- An encoder: software on a computer or compatible standalone hardware that sends your audio and visuals to YouTube.
- A prepared visual and music track or playlist that you own or are authorized to use. YouTube does not prescribe a Reiki-specific visual format.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the outgoing stream.
You do not inherently need expensive equipment. A wired Ethernet connection can be useful if your computer and network support it, but it is optional.

Prepare the channel, music, and visual
Enable live streaming
- Verify your YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days.
- Enable live streaming ahead of time. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
Clear rights for everything viewers will hear or see
Before creating the broadcast, make sure you have the necessary rights for the music and visual content. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to have the rights needed to use live content, including applicable rights from artists, record labels, publishers, public-performance licensors, and other royalty participants. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the live image, warn you to stop using identified content, interrupt or terminate the stream, or take action in connection with a copyright or Community Guidelines strike. If a rights holder has licensed the music for your stream, ask them to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist. Choose a still or gently animated visual only if you own it or have permission to use it. The cited YouTube guidance does not prescribe a Reiki-specific image, animation, bitrate, or encoder configuration.

Create the YouTube stream and connect an encoder
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live to open the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast.
- In your encoder, enter the URL in its server or stream URL field and the key in its stream-key field. Select your prepared audio-and-visual feed.
- Keep the stream key private. It is the credential that lets the encoder send a feed for YouTube to accept. If it is exposed, reset it in the Live Control Room and replace the key in your encoder. YouTube Help: Live streaming with an encoder
Test the stream before relying on it
- Start the encoder and confirm that the feed appears in the Live Control Room preview before beginning the broadcast.
- Check that the music is audible and consistent and that the visual is arriving as intended. Verify access from the channel or watch page and on mobile devices.
- Measure available outbound upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate; this is a planning recommendation, not a guarantee against dropouts. YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
- If you use a backup encoder, test the failover before the stream matters. YouTube also suggests testing reliability, including by unplugging Ethernet when that connection is in use.
Keep monitoring audio and video during operation. Have a practical recovery plan for encoder, power, or internet interruptions; the cited guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
Start the broadcast and plan for interruptions
Once the preview is correct, begin the broadcast from the Live Control Room. Continue checking the feed rather than assuming that a successful start means it will run without interruption. If the encoder stops, inspect its status and the internet connection, restore the feed, and confirm the preview has returned before resuming. For a 24/7 schedule, decide in advance who can respond to a failure or whether the chosen setup can recover without someone at the computer.

Plan separately for replays
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If having a dependable replay matters, plan shorter broadcast sessions rather than assuming a stream longer than 12 hours will produce one intact archive. The cited encoder instructions do not establish what archive YouTube creates for a broadcast that exceeds 12 hours. YouTube Help: Live streaming with an encoder
Troubleshooting common problems
