For a continuous stream, keep the encoder and internet connection running, leave upload-bandwidth headroom, and monitor the output. “24/7” is an operating goal, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service or one intact 24-hour replay.
Before you start: channel eligibility and rights
Enable livestreaming
YouTube requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time livestream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned start. Check YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance for the current requirements.
Use a source you are allowed to stream
Choose either footage you film yourself or prerecorded video and audio for which you have the necessary rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches; if a match is identified and remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A licence does not necessarily prevent an interruption: the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. You are responsible for having the rights needed to livestream the material, including music rights. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms.
Choose the fireplace source and encoder
Real fireplace footage
Point a camera or camcorder at the fireplace if you want the stream to show genuinely live flames. You will need a suitable view, stable placement and lighting that works for the scene; the camera feed must reach an encoder. YouTube supports encoder workflows but does not prescribe a particular camera or software. Expensive equipment is not required for livestreaming, according to YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

Rights-cleared prerecorded video
Use a prerecorded fireplace video when a live camera view is not important. Confirm rights for both the images and any sound, then load the video into streaming software or compatible hardware that can send it as a live feed. A loop is possible only if your chosen encoder supports the playback workflow you need; the YouTube setup guidance describes sending an encoder feed, not a particular looping application or configuration.
Software or dedicated hardware
Software on a computer can encode and send the feed; a standalone hardware encoder is another option. Choose based on operating-system compatibility, reliability, power use, restart handling and cost. The official guidance does not establish a product-specific winner or a tested automatic-restart setup for continuous streaming. Whichever route you choose, a computer-based encoder must stay powered on and connected for the stream to continue.
Set up the stream in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a new stream or schedule one, following YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions.

Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream into your encoder. The URL tells the encoder where to send the feed, and the key lets YouTube accept it. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room using the stream settings guidance.

Set up the video or camera source in the encoder and start sending the feed. Use settings that your encoder and connection can sustain; the official pages cited here do not prescribe one universal resolution or bitrate for every fireplace stream.

Wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check the preview, watch page, picture and sound before going live. YouTube recommends preparing the encoder early, testing, and monitoring stream quality.

Start the broadcast from the encoder or Live Control Room according to the controls you selected. YouTube provides stream settings including DVR, latency, auto-start and auto-stop; choose the options that fit your workflow rather than assuming they are required for every setup. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream settings instructions.
Keep the stream running reliably
Budget upload bandwidth
Your upload connection must support the total outgoing stream bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above that total. If you send both a primary and backup feed, allow bandwidth for both feeds plus the margin. The 20% figure is YouTube’s recommendation, not a guarantee against network interruptions. Monitor the encoder and Live Control Room for problems. If the encoder or connection drops, restore the feed from the encoder and confirm the preview returns. YouTube’s cited guidance recommends testing and monitoring but does not specify a tested automatic-restart configuration for a 24/7 fireplace stream; do not assume a particular computer, encoder or network will recover without intervention.

Decide how replays will work
YouTube Help says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” The cited encoder instructions do not promise that one continuous 24-hour broadcast will be archived intact. If replays matter, plan a broadcast schedule around the under-12-hour archive condition and check the resulting archives rather than relying on a single all-day replay.

For a real fireplace: a camera or camcorder, plus an encoder that accepts its feed.

For prerecorded video: a rights-cleared video and audio source, plus software or hardware capable of sending it as a live feed.

For either setup: a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the total outgoing bitrate and recommended headroom.

Optional: dedicated hardware encoding if it better fits your operating system, reliability, restart, power or cost requirements. YouTube says costly equipment is not necessary.
Troubleshooting common problems
