Schedule a Premiere while uploading a video

Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Upload videos.

Select the video file and fill in its title, description, thumbnail, audience and other video details.

Continue to the Visibility step. Choose Schedule, then enter the date and time you want the Premiere to begin.

Check Set as Premiere. To customize the event, select Set up Premiere and choose a countdown theme and length.

Select Done or Schedule to finish. The exact final button can vary with the Studio interface.
YouTube also documents an upload-time Premiere option in its mobile app: on the Set visibility page, choose Set as Premiere. Studio and app labels can change, so consult YouTube’s current Premiere instructions if your screen differs.
Choose scheduled, instant or ordinary scheduled publication

What viewers see before, during and after the Premiere
Before it starts
YouTube creates a public watch page that you can share in advance. Viewers can set a reminder, comment or chat there. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead so the thumbnail has time to appear in subscribers’ feeds. Reminder notifications arrive about 30 minutes before the event and again when it starts, according to YouTube’s Premiere tips and Premiere help.

At the scheduled time
The selected countdown runs before the video begins. Viewers then watch the video together in real time; they can rewind content that has already played but cannot skip ahead beyond the live point. You can join the live chat, answer questions and moderate discussion.
After it ends
The video remains on your channel as a regular upload. YouTube says chat replay is available and the Premiere’s view count transfers to the video.
Countdown, trailer and interaction options
Countdown customization
You can choose a countdown theme and length during Premiere setup. YouTube’s customization guidance says the countdown appears two minutes before the Premiere, with the selected length controlling the countdown.
Optional trailer
A trailer can play on the watch page before the event, but YouTube limits this feature to channels with more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. The trailer must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes long, follow YouTube’s rights and Community Guidelines requirements, and cannot be a video that has previously premiered. These are YouTube Help eligibility conditions; check the current trailer and Premiere setup guidance before relying on the option.

Ads and fan features
Eligible channels can run pre-roll ads during a Premiere; mid-roll and post-roll ads are unavailable during it. Super Chat and Super Stickers may be enabled for eligible creators, and eligible channels can use membership perks such as members-only chat. Availability depends on YouTube’s eligibility requirements; see its Premiere customization details.
Supported videos and account restrictions

Shorts: YouTube Premieres do not support Shorts.

Video formats: YouTube’s Premiere help says 360/VR180 video and output above 1080p are unsupported.

Community Guidelines penalty: If your account has a Community Guidelines strike, a Premiere will not publish during the penalty period. YouTube says it is set to private and must be rescheduled after the freeze period.
Check YouTube’s Premiere help for current format and account rules before scheduling.

Change a scheduled Premiere time

In YouTube Studio, open Content and select the video.

Choose Edit → Visibility.

Under Schedule, change the date or time and save the update.
The public watch-page date uses Pacific Standard Time (PST), according to YouTube. If you schedule from a time zone ahead of PST, the date viewers see on the watch page can differ from the date shown in Studio. See YouTube’s scheduling guidance.

Use a clear thumbnail and tell viewers they can set a reminder on the watch page.

Plan to be present in chat if you want to welcome viewers, answer questions or moderate discussion in real time.
Troubleshoot common Premiere problems
The Premiere option is missing
Make sure you are following the upload-time workflow and are on the Visibility step. Confirm that the video is not a Short and does not use an unsupported 360/VR180 or greater-than-1080p output format. YouTube may change Studio labels and availability; check its current help page if the option still does not appear.
The video did not publish at the scheduled time
Check whether the channel has a Community Guidelines strike and is within the penalty period. YouTube says the Premiere is set to private during that period and must be rescheduled after the freeze ends. Also confirm the scheduled time under Content → Edit → Visibility.
The watch page shows a different date
Compare the time zone in Studio with the PST date used on the public watch page. A time-zone difference can put the event on a different calendar date for viewers.
Viewers cannot skip ahead
That is expected during the event: viewers can rewind to content already played, but cannot move beyond the current live point. The video remains a regular upload afterward.
