How to Schedule a 24/7 Fireplace YouTube Stream to Start Automatically

A scheduled YouTube event does not start its own video feed. Learn how to connect the broadcast, automate the source, test quality, and plan around YouTube’s long-stream archive limits.

Scheduling a YouTube broadcast does not start the video or encoder for you. To have a fireplace stream start unattended, schedule the event in YouTube Studio, enable auto-start, and separately arrange for an encoder or cloud streaming service to begin sending the video feed at the right time. YouTube’s auto-start behavior is triggered when video begins arriving from the connected encoder; it is not a clock that launches your computer or source video. YouTube’s scheduling guidance and Live Streaming API documentation describe those separate parts.

What has to happen for the stream to start automatically?

There are two jobs: YouTube must have a scheduled broadcast ready, and a video source must connect and send the fireplace footage. In YouTube Studio, auto-start can make the scheduled broadcast go live when the encoder starts sending video. It does not turn on a computer, launch an encoder, or begin playback at a future time by itself.

For a local setup, you need a scheduled computer task or other reliable automation to start the source and encoder. A cloud service can instead start a stored prerecorded video on its own schedule. Either way, test the entire chain before relying on it unattended.

Prepare a fireplace video you are allowed to stream

Use a recording and soundtrack that you have the rights to broadcast on YouTube. The appearance of a fireplace video online does not establish that it is free to reuse; check both footage and audio permissions with the rights holder or license terms. This also applies to music playing quietly beneath the fire.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Decide whether you need viewers to rewind the broadcast or whether you need a replay afterward. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable beyond that duration. If a replay matters, consider separate broadcasts shorter than 12 hours and/or a local recording. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup; see its archive live streams guidance and DVR guidance.

Schedule the event in YouTube Studio

  1. Open the scheduling workflow. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream. Create a new event or reuse settings from a previous stream.
  2. Set the event details. Review the title, description, thumbnail, privacy setting, date, and start time. A scheduled stream can appear as an upcoming event, allowing viewers to visit its watch page and opt for a notification.
  3. Use the correct event when connecting. Confirm that the encoder or service will send video to this scheduled broadcast, rather than another event or an unscheduled stream.
  4. Copy the ingest details. In Live Control Room, get the stream URL and stream key and enter them in the encoder or service. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. Reset it in Studio if it is exposed.
  5. Enable auto-start if appropriate. Turn on the broadcast’s auto-start setting if it should go live as soon as the encoder connects and sends video. The control is a broadcast behavior; it does not schedule the encoder itself.

Current YouTube Studio labels can change. If a label has moved, use the event’s Live Control Room settings and verify the current official schedule-stream instructions rather than assuming that the scheduled start time will launch the source.

Make the video feed start at the scheduled time

Option 1: Local computer and encoder

Keep a computer powered, connected, and able to run both the video source and encoder. Configure your operating system’s task scheduler to launch the playback and encoder before the event, and make sure the encoder uses the stream URL and key for the intended scheduled broadcast. The precise scheduler steps depend on your operating system and encoder; YouTube does not prescribe one universal method for starting every creator’s computer and software at a future time.

  • Prevent sleep or automatic shutdown for the planned run, and consider power and internet interruptions.
  • Set the playback to loop and confirm the encoder will keep transmitting when the video reaches its end.
  • Check that the encoder can reconnect after a dropped connection and that the scheduled event is still the selected destination.
  • If you need a replay, configure local recording separately and check that the computer has enough storage.

Option 2: Cloud service for prerecorded video

A cloud streaming service can play an uploaded recording without keeping your home computer on. YouTube’s encoder streaming guide lists cloud-based services as a category for streaming prerecorded video 24/7. Before depending on a provider, confirm its scheduled-start and stop controls, reconnect behavior, source storage, output quality, archive workflow, account access, current price, and support directly with that provider.

Set encoder quality and verify the preview

Choose settings your upload connection can sustain continuously, not just briefly. YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate is 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps; its guidance varies by resolution, frame rate, and codec. Check the current YouTube encoder settings table for your selected format.

  • Keyframes: YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
  • Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest where supported.
  • Codec: YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS workflows; availability depends on the specific workflow.
  • Upload capacity: Leave headroom above the selected video bitrate for audio and network variation. A connection that repeatedly falls below the needed rate can cause buffering or dropped frames.

Before the scheduled start, begin a test transmission and inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Confirm that the video plays, the audio is intentional, and the event is receiving a stable feed. YouTube also recommends testing the encoder and monitoring quality; see its live streaming tips.

Choose an approach for a continuous fireplace channel

Approach Useful when Check before relying on it
StreamNeo You want prerecorded video to loop from the cloud to YouTube without leaving a computer running. It offers any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with the first day free. Confirm the video fits the slot’s pooled storage allowance and that the scheduled workflow matches your needs.
Local encoder and scheduled computer task You want direct control over playback, encoding, and local recording. Computer uptime, scheduler reliability, encoder restart behavior, upload stability, power backup, and correct event binding.
Shorter scheduled broadcasts You want individual sessions within YouTube’s stated under-12-hour archive guidance. How often you must create events, maintain audience continuity, update metadata, and switch the encoder between sessions.

No specific computer, UPS, encoder model, or streaming service is mandatory for every workflow. Match equipment and services to the setup you actually need; for example, a local drive is only useful for a local recording backup, not for scheduling the stream.

Troubleshoot a stream that does not start or stay live

  • The event is scheduled, but nothing goes live. YouTube has an upcoming broadcast, but no encoder is sending video. Start the source and encoder, or verify that the cloud service is set to begin at the intended time.
  • The encoder is live, but the wrong event receives the feed. Check the stream URL, key, and selected scheduled event in Live Control Room and in the encoder.
  • The broadcast waits instead of going live on connection. Check the event’s auto-start setting. Auto-start only responds after the encoder begins sending video; it cannot start that encoder.
  • The stream disconnects or buffers. Review YouTube’s stream health, confirm the upload connection can sustain the chosen bitrate, and check the encoder or host’s reconnect behavior. Test again before the next scheduled start.
  • The video ends instead of looping. Check the source playback or playlist loop setting and verify that the encoder continues to transmit after the file ends.
  • The key may have been exposed. Reset the stream key in YouTube Studio, then update it in every encoder or service that uses it.
  • The replay is missing or viewers cannot rewind far back. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond that duration. Use shorter sessions and/or a local recording if retaining footage is important.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload your fireplace recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the file as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price regardless of quality; it also includes 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded video rather than going live from a camera.
